Good saw. Just received this saw. Already have 6 1/2 model m18 saw. Super excellent build design and heavy duty. Premium quality lithium tool. The lithium technology is well designed in this powerful tool. No lithium surprises or odd requirements. Strong, dependable, and easy to use. The rafter hook actually works fairly well when hung on 2x6 or larger, width of the lumber keeps it from swinging under like it was on your work table. The rail you were demonstrating on is just too thin for what it’s designed for.

The plunge cut was going with the fiber structure of the wood, that’s why you got those longer stringy chips, or in the tree industry we call them noodles. So that’s the deal with the saw clogging. For me, the positive stops or common angle detents are a bit scary, because we’re i to buy this and want to make a 46 instead of a 45 I may end up in a situation where the detent prevents the angle from being made. Without detents as long as I look at it and put the thing on the thing where they line up it’s money.

Hi TRZ, I have a question on this circular saw. Would it be possible to cover the dust section so the dust can blow downward? Would it damage or harm the circular saw? It's cool it has it but if you are a lefty the dust blows right at you. I use the 6 1/2 (2530) model and the dust blows downward like a worm drive. I like that style better. I get it for the guys who work inside and want to use a vacuum system. When working outside that dust in the face is annoying. My son is a lefty and when he use this saw he hates it. It's alright for me because I'm on the other side of the blade (I'm a righty). Just wanted to get some feed back

Do you know how this compares in power to the Dewalt Flexvolt Sidewinder Circular saw? The rafter hook on the Octane Ridgid is better and has positive stops, but the octane is a little lacking in power when cutting 2x12 pressure treated, but much improved over the previous generations.

Could somebody answer this for me...I just picked up this saw and currently have a 3.0 CP High Output battery pack. Will this give me the same power that an XC High Output 6.0 or higher would? Just at a shorter run time? I'm fine with that as this saw is a luxury and is definitely overkill for me. But if it doesn't have the same power I would think about getting an 8.0 pack. @craigcrofts156

@@MetalMayhem1978 right side blade is best for right handed people in my opinion. So when you have to shave a bit off from a length most of the soleplate is resting on the timber. If it was left handed you would have to balance it on the small part of the soleplate if that makes sense. Also it stops dust going in your face as the saw is in the way, and you can pop your head over for a more accurate cut, and bevel cuts feel more natural on right handed saw

I've been a carpenter for 30 years and everyone tells me my saw is left-handed. I've never understood that. A lefty can't use the measurements on the table to make quick productive tablesaw straight rips. It don't throw dust in your face plus the blade on the left side just don't feel ergonomic to me. I reckon it all depends on what your use to. Great video. I just got this saw today, it starts making me money tomorrow

The reason most blades are on the right is because the weight of the saw is rested on the keep side and doesn’t want to drop with the drop material with most left blade saws.
@Martyntd5
@Martyntd5 4 жыл бұрын
If you cut from right to left with a blade-left saw, you get to keep the weight of the saw on the keep side. Long rip cuts from right to left are really easy and really safe with a blade left saw. You just have to change what you're used to.

If your ripping. I’m talking generally cross cutting as a right handed person
@Martyntd5
@Martyntd5 4 жыл бұрын
@@chadhoward3347 Yeah, I'm right handed too. Same applies, you just clamp up with the waste on the left instead of the right, or stand end-on and cut right to left. That way the weight of the saw is always over the keep side of the cut. The only time it's more of a pain is when you are using a speed square in your left hand as a fence for cutting 2x4's ...then the weight falls over the waste. But for everything else, left blade is easier and better.

The problem with your plunge cyt was you were going along the grain and starting in the middle, when you start at the end of the wood you're ripping up along the ends of the grain. You get the same with a chainsaw when cutting down a bit of wood like that you get grainy strings and it can clog the saw.

How much of an impact does it make in terms of accuracy (or pain in the ass looking over to the other side) with being a rh user?

My buddy bought me this... And I fucking hate it. I am a worm drive user. I can't cut as well with my left and looking over guard makes shitty cuts versus letting the saw fall. No returning it. He's already made a cut

I build custom houses and I have cut just about everything with that very saw. The thing is durable, pretty powerful, and I have been very happy with it. I'd say the only drawback in my opinion is slightly less torque than the chorded Milwaukee.

Hey trz! I have a request for you! If you can get your hands on the dcs575, and this saw, would you be able to do a tool duel? I'm trying to find direct comparisons between these saws and have found none. Only anecdotal statements. Thanks again for all the work you do for us! it helps making purchasing decisions so much easier.

I'm happy with ryobi 7quarter saw with Diablo blade, cuts just as fast as the Milwaukee, costs only a bit over $100. Probably may not last as long as the Milwaukee, and blade guard is not as smooth, it's plastic

Amazing Review my Friend !!! My only negative isn't the fault of the tool at all. It's my wallet's fault😫😫 way to skinny for a quality tool like this !!! If only I had a Friend at ACME that could/would be able to hook up an ol Marine Corps grunt/radio operator. Now that would be a dream come true !!! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos, Rodney

I see the Devil made it up to Austintown 😁. Seem like it has some power. The dust extractor is much better than the Ridgid but that's the price difference too. The positive stops are good and bad. If they are on the cuts are good but if they are off is it hard to fix or hard to slightly move off the positive stop? As for the rafter hook, I haven't really used it to have an opinion. Is this saw lighter and balanced better than the Ridgid? Thank you for a great review. 25k 🎉🎊🎆

MDF is the Devil! I think the ridgid is a bit light, but around the same size. You can tell they were both using some of the same designs, but the power of the Milwaukee is crazy awesome. The bevel is actually smooth, but I still like my positive stops my broski

/// If they are on the cuts are good but if they are off is it hard to fix or hard to slightly move off the positive stop?/// Most decent saws should have a set screw on the shoe that allows you to square up the blade to the scale. As the stops are part of the scale assembly, they should get trued up at the same time. On my Makita I just set the shoe to the 0 stop, check the blade is square to the shoe with a square and if it isn't, adjust the set screw until it is. Then everything is dead nuts on. The shoe, stops, scale ...everything.

@@johnrice9121 Yeah, I've got an old B&D saw I inherited from my dad. It's long since drifted out and the only way I can think of to correct it, is to take the shoe off and bend the brackets. But most of the newer gen saws have some sort of adjustment to true the blade to the shoe/scale. I just check mine whenever I change blades and if it's out, just a quick nip up on the set screw and it's done. After that, the 45 and 0 stops are damned near as good as a table saw.
