The 2136-20 Gen 2 Rocket Tower Light and Charger has some great upgrades, including 6000 lumen output, a 2.1A USB charging port, and an improved carry handle.
D-Fuse Softbox diffuser I use with these for video production: amzn.to/2V1nVlq
Thanks to Milwaukee for providing a review sample.

I play in a band. These lights are SO useful when we do summer outdoor events. There is never enough light when we are packing up our gear. These lights are the bomb for that type of situation.

@Doresoom Tool Reviews. Thanks for the thorough comparison between the two Milwaukee M18 Tower Rocket Lights. I wish I held out for the M18. I bought two M12s when there were great deals for them. They replace my halogen lights I used for painting and other home repairs. No need to worry about melting anything or something catching fire with the LED lamps. Removing the M12 batteries is always a pain for me. Hope you and your family stay safe, well, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I love the M12 Rocket light too! It's so much more compact that if I'm just doing something quick and won't be there an extended amount of time that I'll grab that first quite a bit. I've found the batteries can be exceedingly difficult to remove as well though. I'm not sure why/how they messed that up - I don't have trouble getting them out of any other M12 tool. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too!

Thanks for the content. Looks like Milwaukee has ticked a lot of boxes with this light. Nice that it also doubles as a charging station for USB peripherals as wells a M18 batteries. All it needs now is the ability to make a nice cup of Joe.

I really like that 2136-20, but cannot currently justify the $400+ price tag. The number of instances where I would need that light where: 1) I don't have access to AC power, 2) I don't have access to DC/automobile, and 3) the light from my current repertoire of devices is insufficient.......would be few and far between.

I just wish they'd added another telescoping section for greater height. 6k lumens opens up greater "area" lighting like a true light tower.

Would you recommend a couple of these lights for outdoor volleyball court (60 by 30 ft)? I was thinking putting one close to each pole of the net and point the three LEDs to each side of the net and one upward to illuminate over the net.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if they'd do a good job illuminating both the ground and upward enough to see the ball easily. You'd definitely be able to see well enough to move around on the volleyball court, but maybe not well enough to play.

It's on sales for Black Friday now at Home Depot. Two gen 1 lights + two 6 ah batteries for just $450. 😄. I'd rather have two 2500 lumen, which makes 5000 and even lighting on each side than just one 6000 lumen gen-2 alone. lol

I haven't used either of the Makita ones, but I don't believe they can be connected to AC power. That puts Milwaukee as the no-contest winner in my book.

I don't know why this new light is considered Gen-2. This is actually the 3rd iteration of the M18 Rocket light. Model 2131-20 was the first Rocket light to hit the market from Milwaukee. Then came 2135-20, and now 2136-20.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 3 жыл бұрын
It's the second gen charger version. The first Rocket Light was actually 2130-20, without a plug in option and 2000 lumens. That one was replaced by the Gen 2 non-charger version 2131-20. So this is the 4th M18 Rocket Light they've come out with. However, they're not going to discontinue the 2131-20 (which replaced the 2130-20), but they will discontinue the 2135-20. So that makes this 2136-20 a "Gen 2" in my book, since it's actually replacing the current charger version.
@namadio
@namadio 3 жыл бұрын
I always thought the 2135-20 has 2 Gens itself as there is a serial number split somewhere with a modification the the bottom to fit the 12ah batteries when they came out (same as the hex rover light removed a bar that included a super useful nail hanging hook.....). I learned of this difference when trying to find a carry bag for the 2135. The Milwaukee made bag only fit the first version of the light made to fit no larger than the 9ah battery. That all being said, from your comparison do you think the new 2136 Bag will fit in the 2135 that can hold the larger 12ah battery (assuming your 2135 can hold the 12).
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 3 жыл бұрын
My 2135 can't hold a 12Ah, sorry! I think it's the same height as the 2136 though, so I doubt one with the expanded bay will fit.

Hey there, thanks for the video. I was wondering, with the new design for the heads, it looks as if you cannot point all the heads down for down lighting like the gen 1 can. Is that so, or are the beam angles similar when set up for down lighting?
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Good eye, it can't hit quite as near the base as the original Gen 1 version can. When I set it up at the start of the video, that's as far down as it can go for the 360° lighting configuration. If I'm working on the ground, I don't usually place it in the center of where I'm working though. So if I need to light up the floor I'll just move it a little farther away from the spot I want to work on.

@@DoresoomReviews i have 4 of the gen 1 lights and I literally only use them in the down light configuration. Bummer the newer one can't quite do the same.

Did you test runtime with 12ah? If so what was the runtime please
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I talk about runtime testing at 8:34 in the video, but I only used an 8Ah, 5Ah, and 2Ah battery. I'd expect it to be linear with a 12Ah battery since this is a low current draw tool. So expect 5 hours 15 minutes on high with a 12Ah.

I just bought me this light. It should have a super charger for the 18 volts and a fast charger for the cell phones for the price. I also would have liked to see a bright white instead of the off white it has. Also the clamps that hold the post up are not adjustable to tighten so the lights does not slide down. There may be a possibility that with rain or cold weather the clamps won't hold the post tightly like you can with a bycle seat since its the same concept. This is my first tripod light and don't have nothing else to compare it too so for now I think this is an ok light. I bought a 12.0 battery for 219.00 for this light and it took forever to charge. lThey only had the light only no bag or battery. I paid 449.00. Im using it in the living room for now. 😄
@ZunarZulfiqar
@ZunarZulfiqar 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. You can actually adjust how tight the clamps are. First, unlock the clamp by fully pulling out the red clamp lever. Next right where the clamp lever pivots on the clamp, you'll see a black screw inside. You can tighten or loosen it to adjust the clamping force.

I'm a mechanical engineer. I use lights like these on a weekly basis at minimum, for home improvement projects as well as KZfaq video lighting. They're probably overkill for most homeowners, but are still extremely useful. Especially so for outdoor projects that I always seem to run out of daylight on.
