Nothing scientific here, but a look at the new Milwaukee M18 1/4” Impact Driver model number: 2953.

Comparing the “now previous generation” M12 Fuel 1/4” driver, and the M18 Fuel Surge 1/4” driver with some 3” deck screws. Then adding the 3/8” compact impact wrench to drive in some 4” lags into pressure treated 5/4” board.

It's pretty much the gen 3 with better trigger, collet & lights. I'm waiting for Home Depot to get in stock locally to buy even if I already have 3 gen 3's + previous gens 😂. I'm buying the 12v later today, I checked last night & it says in stock locally 👍

The Surge is slower but it gives you more control and less noise. Precision work, i would go with Surge. If you just want to send it, newer Gen3 M12 3453-20 1/4 Hex impact driver or Gen4 M18 2953-20 1/4 Hex impact driver.

Seems like the M12 was faster than the Surge. Not even close to the gen 4.

Why is the surge m18 fuel more expensive than this new impact , if this impact has more power and torque from what it looks like.

I just got my Gen 4 Impact (tool only/loving it) giving my Gen 3 to my mom for work around the house. She’s become a little handy woman ever since she retired. Haha! I kept my Gen 3 Hammer Drill tho’ due to not seeing much of a difference with the 4. All I could say is that the Gen 4 Impact is a beast. Those 3 LED lights alone are just beautiful 😍😎🦾

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque"

Can anyone confirm if the surge is a different drill? I bought the surge impact a few years back and it’s been amazing and all but slightly lacking in power, co worker got a new dewalt XR and it’s awesome. Thinking about getting this new impact woo it be better than my current surge??
