Milwaukee m18 heat gun review - not happy

This Milwaukee m18 heat gun is the worst tool in their 18v range. It doesn’t reach a high temperature, blow enough air or have a decent battery life. My expectations for Milwaukee tools are so high because all their cordless tools are so powerful, some as much as a corded tool. This tool is very disappointing. All other brands making a cordless heat gun are also low on performance. For more videos like comment and subscribe. Your donations help me to keep helping you .....

Its simply not designed for the applications you intended it for. I work as a Signwriter and i find it very useful. I wouldn't use it to wrap an entire vehicle but when i just need a bit of heat to fix a wrinkle or shrink wrapping an electrical connection where there's no mains power its very useful. I will say though, i have used the Dewalt as well and it does seem to be a step above the milwaukee.

I dont agree with you. this gun works great for my needs and stop saying that this gun is junk, and you are disapointed, and by the way get a real milwaukee battery not a fake one.

Thanks for the review, I have the Ryobi and Dewalt units which I use to remove vinyl lettering on-site. For that purpose they are adequate tho extra batteries are a must.

My $12 Harbor Freight one is great especially considering the cost. However, there are times when a cordless would be convenient. Having said that my m18 one is still in the box 4 months after purchase and seeing the performance makes me consider taking it back for a refund.

Hi Bill. Was going to get the Ryobi version for my painting business as a handy back up but I think it will be pretty much useless as well. Probably OK for a sparky or someone doing a lot of heat shrink work - that's about it.

It's also good for vinyl wrapping and window tinting. Anything really that requires medium to low heat and is hard to access power or it would be inconvenient to do so. It's not meant for quick drying drywall mud or things of that nature because most of the time you can use power for those things from the wall really easily.

I have a cordless heat gun that uses no batteries at all. I have been using it for years, never needs a charge or plug. It's called a torch. Uses map gas or propane. It really depends on your budget.

If I was going to get a heat gun, I would probaby get an AC corded. The DC ones just don't provide enough heat for really anything. Thanks for the review, good sir.

Get an official Milwaukee HO battery. It will perform a lot better. That being said, batteries are shit at producing heat, so you are never going to get near the performance of a corded heat gun. 5 ah 18 V battery produces 90 watts while a corded heat gun uses 1500 watts. It'll never be good enough

Sorry mate but anyone buying any brand of heat gun and expecting or hoping its equal to a corded version is just crazy---no offense intended. The cordless would be a great tool for some short term uses but along with being a battery hog there's no way to have the same specifications when compared to the corded version. Maximum air flow and temperature just aren't possible. As big a fan of all tools Milwaukee for over 30 years now they do make a few that simply don't rise to their otherwise well deserved reputation for superior power tools.

Bro u gotta forget Milwaukee and go to DeWALT. Heaps more power and they don’t cut out if u push them too hard. Plus DeWALT has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, if u don’t like it bring it back. They got some sick deals atm. Trade in any old tool and get $100 off a new skin.

Hey Duke, same here, best gear I’ve ever owned. I don’t have any Milwaukee tools either but two of my mates do. After using mine they both say DeWalt is more powerful, one of them just went out and replaced all his red gear with yellow, about $3000 worth! The only things I like from Milwaukee is the 12v range for their compact size.

100% garbage. I can hold my hand infront of it for 30 seconds. Got sick of waiting for it to heat up. I wanted to use it to melt the fleece on drydex roofing iron. Complete waste of money. Thats milwaukee for you though. Some of their stuff is the best but then some of it seems like a cheap chinese knock off. Every time i buy milwaukee i feel like im gambling
