I think I understand this song! The girl is wondering what caused her to leave her small town and old friends for the city (represented by the Crosswalk Light Man giving her child self a candy drop). Eventually she comes to the realization that it was her own nature that led her to move away, feeling like she didn’t fit in. The candy drop also represents her dreams, which she is trying to chase but failing. Finally she becomes determined to make the most out of her situation even though she realizes her dreams are fading away, confronting the Crosswalk Light Man (herself) and choosing to stop living in the past.

The more you listen to it, the better it gets.
