Tapping into an intimate journey of three wonderful friends, Mind Over Mountain follows Canadian snow sliders Leah Evans, Marie-France Roy, and Madeleine Martin-Preney on their 85-mile, 30,000-foot-vertical Bugaboos to Rogers ski traverse. The iconic Canadian ski route dishes out some shaky spring conditions, tests rappelling confidence, hurt hip flexors, and breaks personal rules to never ski out in the dark. But the human conditions are as good as they get, and we’re reminded that snow travel is as much about talking with mountains as it is talking with friends.

These documentaries are always about the great effort of the skiers in front of the camera. But even more impressive is the effort of the film crew pulling off the same route while documenting it on camera. Carrying loads of gear, switching lenses in snow storms, managing power and always be one step ahead of the athletes to get the shot. I’m a filmmaker myself and this always blows my mind! There should be another documentary about the making of this film!

I am a women's college soccer coach and for Patagonia to produce and share this means so much more than words to say... this story of course is not about Patagonia, I believe Patagonia would be the first to say that this is about 3 incredible and capable women, but i'm just so thankful and so inspired by this adventure and by the personal Experience I went on from start to finish of this video. Thank you Leah, Marie-France, Madeleine, and Patagonia for all of this.

This is the 1st female focused back country ski touring film I have ever seen! And it sets a high water mark. As a viewer I felt this emotional connection to the strong women in this film. It like a passion for nature is a network for folks that enjoy the testing them selves in the wildness of snowy mountain ranges. The ski culture runs deep in these folks and I am grateful to be inspired by them.

Really awesome quote from Marie talking about how truly challenging it is being a women in the outdoor sports industry and the World in the general. As a man, I never will fully be able to understand what women go through in this regard but thought this quote really brought home how amazing women in the outdoor industry are to a whole new aspect when looking at the difficulties women face not only in something like this traverse- where they are literally fighting for survival- but also against society as well. Truly amazing group and awesome film! Great job!

Another inspiringly beautiful Sweetgrass Productions Film about three badass ladies showing us all how it's done. Amazing to see how far Madeleine has come since meeting her and sharing the Scott Duncan Hut with her over a decade ago on the Wapta Traverse-one of likely several traverses she forgot to mention in her long list of accomplishments. Congrats Ladies.

From the first moment, we were given wings. The passion and drive in their hearts sits in stark contrast to the steely indifference of mountains that inhabit the very tip of existence. Inspiring. An otherworldly immense odyssey with the terror of night skiing that brings my mind back to my own fear of long ago night dives. Then... the exhilaration of pushing through to reach the flooding relief that comes at the end of a successful journey, and the inner peace that accomplishment bestows within. Awesome.

Gosh! This group of women and what they went through and their honesty to how they were feeling and persevering was EPIC! ⭐️ Having done an all female traverse for 5 days in the Drummond Glacier traverse a few years ago, before the pandemic, I can totally relate to these spectacular women! Our guides were the outstanding people 💯of Sylvia Forest from Golden and Alison Cardinal. The editing of this video certainly captured the "real" experience of a long traverse...camping out like we did....weather changes, steep terrain, ice crampons, changing plans as the weather dictated...and..yes...those blasted trees doing down in the heat having just come off a freezing mountain or glacier top...learning to pace yourself...and then..there is the group effort to bring the team together...the challenges of looking for the success of the trip for all when the drive is so big to complete the trip to fruition...it really tests you out...all imperfections and strengths rolled into one! Then the reminder that it is in the mountains that one really finds out who they are and just what they can accomplish if you put your mind to it...and...most importantly how supporting each other is crucial to the over all team success...Gosh! How I miss those week long hut trips😉 Waiting for this pandemic to be over with so to get back to BC and Alberta for more back country skiing and trips with the Alpine Club of Canada🍁🇨🇦

"Add a public comment," it says. Why? They did this! All I did was watch the video. My skills don't match what's required for this route, and that's fine. I've never even had on skis. I backpack in the mountains, and I've survived being whited out. The backcountry is not something you can imagine, if you've never been there--how the light shines through the rock. As another comment says, "These ladies are dope." I want to thank them and everyone connected with making this video! It truly inspires you to take on whatever challenge is right for you.

The best skiing film of the year so far. Ski traversing is a bizarre blend of thru-hiking and ski mountaineering and its magic is undeniable. I got sick and broke a ski halfway between Wolf Creek Pass and Silverton last spring. Hiking out to near Creede was the hardest day I've had in the mountains and it was all downhill

What amazed me most about this movie was that these women who were essentially professional adrenaline junkies/athletes, and were able to ski things that would downright terrify me, themselves found this trip terrifying and difficult. I cant even begin to wrap my head around it. They genuinely look traumatized by the trip when being interviewed, though it could be because it was so fresh, it made the movie so much more real as well and heightened the emotional experience.

I’m 75 y/o and paying the price of having had too much fun. I did what little of whatever of little consequence I ever did in the in mountains solo. It was easier than dealing with the level of testosterone common then. I sincerely wish there’d been women like these informing the world of mountaineering when I was active. Not that I’d expect them to want me to accompany them on any adventures, just knowing they were there would have been wonderful. Maybe next lifetime. Namasté.

Always loved this kind of stuff. I was really drawn to being a skier / mountaineer when I was younger. Then life kicked in. I honestly don't know how anyone can live this kind of life. From this vantage, if you aren't rich, and without a care, there would never be any way to dedicate weeks / months at a time to just "going and playing" on an adventure. Just not worry about, rent, pets, jobs... The freedom to not have to care about those things like normal people.... Must be nice to have a lot of money.

Bravo! You've created another masterpiece. I have dabbled in taking cameras on ski traverses, and developing characters and storyline is such a challenge it becomes a potential distraction from the actual staying alive on skis. Even the route itself gets developed as something of a character. This joins Treeline with some of my favorite outdoor movies.
