Between this and the witchcraft depth map, 18 is turning out to be pretty huge. EDIT: OMG, the object magic mask is amazing. Remember rotoscoping? Ahh, the dark ages.

After using the magic mask, how would you go about converting the video or image to it's black and white mask equivalent? Not sure if I'm using the right words, if I wanted the car to be solid white and the background solid black, what's the conversion process?

This is exactly what I always wanted editing softwares to have, and best area that I feel AI is needed for doing these things. If powerpoint can do it to remove background (even if its worse) , this was really needed for long time with more accuracy. I hope premiere also have this soon

I enjoy your content, as I am constantly learning. I have a request. Can you have a series of tutorials going over the VOX model for explainer videos? VOX sets the standard in this area. If anyone can give an upbeat tutorial on the subject, it's you!

I like to use it a lot, but in many cases there is A LOT of flickering on the edges. Like it's shifting a lot and the end result just looks bad with the mask constantly wobbling around the edges. Any idea on what could cause it? I mostly use the tool to separate objects from the background to make cool transitions but all the little flaws are very obvious with that

A special instance of object tracking is to track a fixed object throughout a long time clip. for example, in a messy room there is a TV showing something on the screen. Both the camera and the TV set are fixed in position. how to mask the TV set and remove all the messy room surroundings？although the object tracking feature can be used in this circumstance,but it is time consuming for the fix object masking. is there any easier way which is based on objective recognization algorithm rather than the color qualifier?

first of all i'm new in the editing world, i'm on the learning path . i have a video where my friend doing pushup , so i try to do outlines just on him (with edge effect), i try it with planar track doesn't work cause he's moving a lot, i try it with color mask but the edge doesn't work when i try to zoom the video in the nodes, finally i try it with this magic mask , i remove the background and then when i put the edge effect on the video with no background (after copying the video with ALT) , the screen turn back to black or when i put the original video nothing happens no zoom no outlines. what's the easiest way to just do edge outlines on a person or object ?

I wish that a feature could be added on the magic mask key which would allow you to add a simple color edge similar to what premiere allows you to do using the radial blur effect. When I try and add something like that when going back to edit page, resolve wigs out on me.

Great tutorial Billy! Question, once the mask is made and everything is tracking correctly, my computer won't play through the masked section smoothly. I am using proxy files. Any suggestions?

Lower the quality of your video while editing then render in the desired quality. I made some videos on davinci as seen in my vids for my experience. I’m applying a general principle of lowering quality for easier playback.

Oh yeah, of course, it looks awesome. He's using that tool on a bright red car.How could the tool go wrong? I had tried it on my own, and it does not work that flawlessly. It takes a lot to fix it

Makes sense, Even if you upgrade now you can get all future updates. Its not just exclusive to 18 only. You can get resolve 19, 20 and so on with this one license! Its dope

I was thinkin of getting Davinci studio several times in the past but one thing always lets me hesitate: Is the next version (e.g. 19) also part of the upgrade or will I always have to buy the next generation (of Studio) again? Other than that, great video!

Once you have studio bro thats that, its a one off payment, all you have to do is update when the next version comes out, so if you bought studio now, you'll have full access to studio 19 when that eventually comes out as long as you update to it!🙂

After adding the alpha channel, then going back to the edit page I wanted to rotate it and zoom in with it. When I do that, it goes blank. Why?

I dont know, maybe your zooming it into the dark part? Try rotating and doing all of your movements before you mask it out.

@@BillyRybka , while I was waiting for a reply from you, I did exactly what you just said that I should do. I did all the rotating and zooming before I applied that effect. It worked just fine! So, lesson learned! Thank you for being there for me!

@@BillyRybka, Another thing… It appears that you can’t copy the clip that’s been “object masked” and paste it to a different location on the timeline without losing the mask. Have you experienced that?

Oh look, another Studio upgrade incoming, for free. Seriously, $300 and lifetime of free updates is such a great value. Even if you don't need all of those features, supporting a company like BMD, that takes time to explain why subscriptions are bad when they announce their cloud offering, just feels good

this feature was in the Black Magic Design announcement that came out when Resolve 18 beta launched. they didnt sneak in out. don't lie to your audience.

It was in the beta launch. However it wasn't in the original beta release fam. Look at the release notes for the latest update. Not lying. They just didn't release it. Casey have a video where he's trying to find it and can't. It's his reaction video.

Haha loaded question here. Had to downsize my team, just not making enough from youtube at all. So Im still working on building templates and making videos, but I needed to get a job as well. So time has been limited. I'm working less on the template part now & more on the youtube side. So Ill be putting more videos out :)

Don't buy the studio version. Buy the speed editor. It costs the same and the studio version comes free with it. So worth it
