I do disagree that you need to have 'killed it' as a personal trainer first at a big box gym. I was an average trainer at my gym but mainly because their model was terrible. Point is if you're passionate, talented, organized and risk tolerant, you can make it.

I’m an insurance broker during the week and waiter on the weekends. The point about making your money somewhere else is the most important thing you guys said. If your back is against the wall financially it’s so tough stay afloat with a gym

I’ve ran a smallish studio gym in UK for over 6 years, it’s been engaging but very tough! Listening to this was so relatable, thanks. Got young kids & just started KZfaq channel to diversify before they hit school ages.

@@brendanhorsman7680 I wish I’d made all my mistakes within the first 6 months rather than being more cautious and dragging them out over a few years. I could have found out what works and done what works a lot earlier if I was more willing to fail (learn) faster.

I work in a small boutique local gym the last 4-5 years. If fitness is your passion I would not recommend it as a career path . It kills your passion. One word is sales. Getting rejected time after time when trying to close is super stressful. If you love fitness I would recommend just a regular 9-5 the consistency is so much better for your own fitness.

Ownership isn't for you then my friend. I've owned a gym for 12 years and sales is literally the easiest part. Your boutique gym probably has bad systems tbh.

Don't believe it. You should go for it. Is it easy in the beginning? No. But I started with literally $1000 and we are doing very well. I have a full staff of trainers so I never have to be there. You will have to work a lot in the beginning. but you need to go for it.

I think people make the mistake of doing the traditional gym rather than a CrossFit style type gym it’s so much equipment to spend money on and way more people who want to be healthy rather than bodybuilding

@craigquan8615
@craigquan8615 2 жыл бұрын
Calling it "a UFC MMA type gym" shows you have no idea about mixed martial arts. There is no money in combat sports gyms outside of the already established mega gyms. Coaches in smaller gyms are generally retired fighters themselves and more often than not do coaching as a side hustle and work regular jobs
