What are the defining characteristics of a titan? Contrary to common belief, the size of a creature is not the determining factor. Instead, it is the creature's impact on its environment, such as the impacts of radiation and its powers. While these powers may be unclear, they can still be somewhat comprehended in specific situations. For instance, the titans in Greek mythology were not uniformly gigantic in size. However, it is worth noting that Cronos, who devoured his offspring, was presumably larger than an average man. The titans and gods in Greek myths were primarily renowned for their abilities and authority in their specific realms, areas of expertise, and surroundings. In the Monsterverse, Titans are now defined as creatures possessing distinct abilities that can modify or impact their environment. These abilities are not solely determined by their size. With this in mind, let us examine which monsters in the Monsterverse are classified as Titans and which are considered super species.

They didn't need to be big, Mothra barely bigger than a skullcrawler, they just need to have important effect on ecosystem or just have massive destructive power, and intelligence enough to understand things around them

Mothra was bigger after her metamorphosis her wing spand alone was massive enough from wing to wing she damn the size of Godzilla in his second evolution which 8s way big then his first form that he fought the muto in it stated and showed every time Godzilla is hit with radiation he receive a massive power size and muscle increases

Kong was not affected by the Alpha Calls of both Ghidorah and Godzilla so that points to him being more of an Alpha Titan than a Superspecies, because only Alphas are able to refuse the call. Also if Behemoth and Methulselah can be considered a titan than Kong surely can as well.

Also, I believe in Godzilla vs. Kong they explicitly say Kong is an alpha titan. That's why Godzilla attacks while they're taking him to Antarctica.

@@starbirds2464 No they specifically said in the Movie, that he was a juvenile. He was gonna get much, much bigger. Legendary has said that they had planned for Godzilla Vs. Kong from the beginning, so it would make sense .

As much as I love Behemoth, Doug, Tiamat, and Amhuluk. We already have a lot information about them. Legendary should've used the declassified comic to introduced some of unknown titans seen in kotm.

While I get where you are coming from. We haven't seen all that much of these Kaiju (Especially Doug) and this gives the Monsterverse an opportunity to continue stories without Godzilla or Kong. Also, Amhuluk and Tiamat would be the first fully villain Kaiju to have stories ABOUT them and not being villains for Godzilla. Plus they can still have New Kaiju in these stories, they most likely would be world building creatures or Enemies for them to overcome.

@@Mr.MargwitoIt's not like they are gonna stop Declassified with just the 4 Titans. If this gets enough attention they would probably considering more stories of the existing titans. These are just the most popular NEW titans. Plus, he was put into the DC Vs. Comics so he isn't forgotten by Legendary. He may be a runner up if Declassified does well.

They weren't battling for who gets to be alpha titan, they simply battled for the same reasons most titans battle, it's for territory, dominance and submission to another. We know the Kongs lost that war too as they are banished to that island.

@@raionshishi8290 brother. Did you watch Godzilla vs Kong. Dr. Andrew’s literally says that Godzilla will come for him because there can’t be two Alpha titans. Kong doesn’t know about the Ancient war and how the Kongs submitted to Gojira. So he fights Godzilla but also to protect himself and the humans he’s with. Kong grew up fighting for every single thing, and being alpha on skull island. That’s why they fought in GvK. Now there’s a tentative truce, with Godzilla ruling Earth and Kong ruling Hollow Earth

This is a great video. I would say though that Rodan can create storm like conditions, but the effect was more like pyroclast form a volcanoe. Ghidorah on the other hand seems to have the ability to create a hurricane

I think another factor that should go into qualifying something as a titan and a species is how many members there is. Both kong and godzilla are the last members of their species and have shown great capabilities in combat. The fact something is a titan should not be treated as a term of how unique they are but more of a title to an individual of a species is the last and how powerful they are.

That doesn't necessarily work as there's evidence there were more than one godzilla or kong in the past so do we call their ancestors titans as well despite there was more of them?. Can't necessarily use a term that refers to 1 individual if there's more than 1 individual

That logic falls apart very quickly when we look at the history of each titan and examples of their species, especially Godzilla and Kong who had thousands of species members living at some point and time.

@@the_only_lonely That too doesn't necessarily count when kong is still considered a titan and so is godzilla. Neither are not different from the rest of their kind. Godzilla's species are likely no different from him (evident by Dagon) with potential subspecies not entirely counting cause subspecies period are bound to be a bit different. Kongs species were no different from him as he's the normal size for his kind. Skull island just made his species smaller in size due to there not being enough room for his kind to grow to their true size and many of them being wiped out before they could reach their full size.

Personally my theory for why the warbat in its titan name is Titanus Nozuki, is because of a offscreen mutated version which may be able to manipulate smaller creatures and other Warbats, and it's given the name Nozuki

I'd give the mother longlegs the status of titan. Not all of them of course, just the one from the comic that faced Kong. The Queen Mother Longlegss since it has the ability to mentally control its offsprings and its ability absorb moisture from the soil would probably depleat water from an entire section of a forest if needed be.

In my opinion, Doug is the most adorable creature in the Monsterverse so far. He just looks so adorable to me. Although the most adorable creature in all Godzilla movies so far has to be Baby Godzilla/Godzilla Jr from the 1994 movie, Godzilla vs Space Godzilla.

Technically, Titan means large or strong (depending on which species is the most powerful), and what makes a creature a titan is their size, features, power and surroundings. So basically I would say and consider the skullcrawlers more of a Sub - Titan species along with the warbats, ion dragon and frost vark 🤔.

has anybody considered the fact that there may be 2 godzillas in the monsterverse you get one with gills and you get one with no gills its a theory i just created but it kinda makes sense one time a godzilla with weaker atomic breath and a bit bluesih atomic breath(might be caused from mutos emp)and battled against kond but was a bit weaker than i expected(gill version) and one with all the strength in the world and defeated king ghidorah(although did require a moth to help)

@@natebuff4537 Other creatures are classified as MUTOs (Ion Dragon, Frost Vark, and Endo Swarmers are technically considers MUTOs) The actual name of the MUTOs from 2014 is Jinshin-Mushi, and are not titans. The only specimen to begiven the classification of "Titan" was Muto Prime, Titanus Jinshin-Mushi. (and MUTO means "Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism", not Object)

*Spoilers for the new godzilla series* Honestly in the episode where they are in Alaska that weird frost thing confuses me on why it’s called a Titan. The thing was as big as an elephant. I get the Titan thing doesn’t matter about size but it could have just really been called a monster or something

Well the problem with that is Kaiju=Monster, so there is no calling it a monster, titans aren't categorized by size as you said, so no need to worry about that classification or names and how they "fit".

Titans also seem to be mostly singular, too powerful for their to be more than one. The Mutos are an exception to this, but they are also the weakest of Titans

That doesn't work, as that logic would dictate that Kong is also not a titan as their was (still is, now revealed in GxK) multiple members of that species living at some point and time same as Godzilla.

@@raionshishi8290 The logic follows, I don't think that Kong qualifies as a Titan. It's like in the Avengers when Hawkeye and Black Widow fight side by side with a literal god. Kong is closer to Humans than Godzilla. Or we throw out the Titan classification as pointless.

@@alexkaen1701 Tho that again brings it back to Godzilla not being a Titan, because it also has multiple members in it's species overall and specifically Godzilla species. The logic you are using to class certain Kaiju as Titans simply doesn't work when you look at the foundation and details of certain Kaiju species and the fact that the words meaning in this universe has no definition or established fact that reaches and fits that criteria.

Ghidorah is NOT a titan. It's an Alien that invades planets. When it invaded earth, godzilla stopped it from destroying our planet and at last, it got frozen until the events of KOTM
