Correction on the paintings: The villager painting is called “Humble,” the rose painting is called “Meditative,” and the painting with the stuff on the table is called “Baroque.”

4:15 I believe that's actually a rose with the gray-ish pixels representing the thorns. It's a great little easter egg not only to the removed rose flower but also to Salvador Dali's Meditative Rose.

I'd really like them to add different sized paintings. Like, a 3x3 or a 3x2 landscape would be nice. Fed up of having odd numbered builds and not being able to get a reasonably sized painting centred on an odd numbered wall.

Adding the default pack icon as a painting seems so obvious in hindsight, but I never even considered the idea until now. That's a really nice thing to put in the game.

I like the new paintings, they seam more "realistic" when I look at them through the eyes of Steve, where most of the old ones "abstract" or "exaggerated" to him. My favorite of the old paintings was always the one with the creeper. I like to use it as a TV and pretend it's a News show run by creepers.

Since the End Portal uses a screen space shader to render itself, it looks fine when stretched over the screen, but the nether portal texture should really be tiled across the screen similarly to how the dirt texture was tiled across the screen before

I feel like a lot of these updates are going to help data pack developers tremendously. It makes me wonder if they will do a potential marketplace for Data packs in the future.

Last time X called the update 1.25, this time 1.2.5 😂

It's crazy to see how Minecraft constantly getting updated, whilst also getting patched up for finding new, current or possibly past bugs and so on. This shows how much dedication the team has done for us players to play

So when are datapacks getting custom paintings? This seems like the perfect time to add them... We have custom wolves and banners now, anything is on the table.

The villager painting is a reference to the iconic “American Gothic” painted by Grant Wood. Iconic to Americans, at least.

I REALLY REALLY wish they would add some sort of support for custom paintings, minecraft has such a wonderful mapart community yet this is a section of the game that could use alot of improvement as its one of the most tedious processes ever to make map art in survival

It is a popular style from the 17th and 18th Centuries. _Meditative_ is the rose painting, a reference to Salavador Dali's "Meditative Rose" and a reference to the Red Poppies in Minecraft used to be known as Roses before we got Rose Bushes. And of course your biggest mistake of all... _Humble_ is the villagers one! It is a reference to the most popular famous artworks - Grant Wood's "American Gothic". When I saw these paintings, I literally screamed at _Humble_ and asked if it should be called *Haahmerican Gothic* or *Hrmmerican Gothic* . Wow! You were in a big rush to make those mistakes. I'll forgive you. I get very sassy when I am sleep deprived.

As someone who grew up in the Central Great Plains (mixed prairies) and spent their childhood summers in the Flint Hills (tall grass prairie), you got it close enough. (Don't worry X, I struggle to say 'rural' despite the fact that the towns my grandparents lived in were that to a tee.)

Glad to see new paintings added. That said I feel the old paintings are on a different level compared to the new one, created by an artist into pixelated art, not just when it comes to minecraft. They are something really unique. In contrast, the new ones seem gimmicky, they feel like just screenshots of the game with no real essence to them. Would be nice to see more passion put into the art in minectaft.

Would love to use paintings, however I mostly play modded worlds and a lot of entities can make the game run slower on top of all the mods running. Would love for paintings to be made into actual blocks that we can place that have no collision hitbox so players can still go through them.

Cool to see new paintings! Hopefully they find a way to get specific paintings if you want them.. not necessarily a rework, but maybe just an option, like naming the painting the name of the specific painting you want using an anvil.

The villager painting is based on American Gothic, which is from 1930 and not Baroque.

I guess the 'snip it' achievement was changed because it's sometimes used to allude to castrating a dog, haha

I think the baroque painting is the cake one. There is a youtube short on the Minecraft channel where they call that painting "baroque" but im not sure whether that was a reference to it's actual name or just its style.(Probably the name)

I like the idea of new paintings they need to fix the bedrock movement keys they change them and made them unable to be changed back to the way they were I think it was an oversight

I'd love to see more than 5 paintings added. However, 5 is a good starting point and they do look really good. I wish they would add a few in each of the different sizes. Particularly more of the 4x2 size and of the 1x2 size. Variety is the spice of life

I like to think that the painting of the flower is actually a reference to the poppy previously being called a rose.

Seeing more paintings always makes me smile...I just wish there was a way to pick which painting we put up.

i think the one with the 2 villagers is a reference to/Minecraft version of the painted named "American Gothic", aka the painting of farmer holding a pitch fork and his wife.

I'm not sure, but to me, that last painting looked a lot like the pre-poppy rose texture. Haven't seen that in quite a while, and I honestly kinda miss it. I think it'd be neat to add the single rose back into the game somehow. Perhaps obtained by sheering a rose bush.

I really preferred the dimension transition they had after they removed the dirt. Having it just linger on the frame looked interesting and made it much less jarring. Now there's just a wall of purple slammed in your face.

What would be cool with them adding new paintings would be some way to choose paintings. Some way to have a menu and choice of specific paintings in the game, and then that painting item in your inventory would always be that specific painting when you placed it. The randomness of putting a painting on the wall, even with the current version of restricting the space, still feels outdated. If Mojang continues to add more paintings, at some point the random painting system will feel so worthless. I really hate having an idea in mind for a specific painting I want for a build, and yet still stuck in a loop of gambling which painting I get, getting the wrong one, and having to knock it down and do it again. Even worse is when the same wrong painting pops up multiple times in a row. Also, it's just annoying when I want to put one of the smaller paintings on a large wall, but the way the current system is designed, I will only get the largest size available, or do the stupid thing of sticking a block on the wall temporarily just to restrict the size to the one I want. It just feels so much like a beta gameplay mechanic.

The wolf armor is going to make secret life series insane. New meta. In a bit out of the loop; does anyone know if we can enchant the armor. Unbreaking; thorns would be crazy.. I doubt they would though. I think they should. Would be interesting.

Instead of removing the +NBT tag entirely they could replace it with a different tag, such as +Components. Otherwise this is a cool pre-release. The nether and end dimension transitions definitely look janky in Creative, but I honestly love them in Survival mode.

If they keep giving us new paintings they'll eventually have to create a method of getting the specific ones. Maybe using specific amounts of and different colors of wool based on the paintings. Of course that would add a lot of individual items.....

FINALLY! I can create my custom survival style with 1.20.5 and get rid of the current gameplay of Vanilla Minecraft :D

The Baroque art movement ended around 1750 while the painting of the husband & wife farmers "American Gothic" wasn't made until 1930, so it makes more sense for the still-life of fruit to be from that period : -)

Personally I think that villager painting has gone a little too 'uncanny valley'. Not a fan but if others like it that's fine, I don't use a lot of paintings anyway.

I just wonder when Minecraft could allow us to make our own paintings in game, I feel like so much more creativity and inspiration can spice up an interior in a world, or perhaps even add some lore and secrets in the right setting.
