This is the Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 - 404 Challenge. In this video, I finally manage to get my greasy, slimey, blocky hands on some grass! I was actually super stoked to get grass into the caves. Not only that but we explored some unchartered territory and finished the floor in our tree room.

Hey I did your challenge but on my phone I got the classic textures and found a cool cave really felt like back in the day when I would just play Minecraft for no reason

make a monument of your character (skin) in a way that symbolizes you overcoming the 404 challenge - like minecraft steve / your skin stepping onto a big 4 oor something just grand in general, imo it has to be something commemorative if it's going to be a center piece

My suggestion is a giant upside-down tree of life or just roots dangling through the ceiling. About 10 to 15 blocks across.

The blocks didn't change that much, the main pallete is very similar. Its just that back then people were experimenting and figuring the game out

This is becoming my favorite active minecraft series. Minecraft videos nowadays are so hyper edited and overly stimulating it actually makes me panic, so it feels very refreshing to watch Minecraft content similar to how it looked about a decade ago! Thanks for making this :3

15:19 I was confused why you killed the chicken, but then I realized they added "Raw Chicken" in Beta 1.8, and breeding was added in 1.0.0. Man, Golden Age Minecraft operates on different rules.

Maybe remove the lava from under the floor where there is fire starting by itself in the main room so the walls wont burn down

I can see why people would think that the comment wall getting so long is annoying, but it's really cool to see how over just a few episodes you went from needing a handful of signs to dedicating extensive hallways that stretch off beyond the fog just to fit them all! It's like a fun way to track how your channel is growing; maybe not in real time, but you can see the growth between episodes, preserved forever within this world. Glad I stumbled onto your channel! Looking forward to the next episode.

i heard this challenge has some point based achievements originally. maybe you can try to do them and calculate how many points you have scored at the end like the way it's intended. nice lighting technique on the secret hall btw

i wish i could, it's unfortunate that this version the stats are shared within the instance. if the stats were seperated by world i could probably calculate it :/

The tree room gives such a comfortable ambience, specially with the grass and cows, it's kind of like a "nature room" to be calm and have a rest from the caves

I’m sure it’s been said a bunch before, but it’s very refreshing and relaxing to see some beta Minecraft with simple goals and the decorations you do are great. I didn’t comment about the glass-glowstone, but I’ve always liked the mysterious glass-fire and lava aesthetic you showed off here for the “secret” room. Also, idk if you measured how many blocks you built up for the time lapse to not be bothered by mobs, but I was getting a little worried about the skeletons that kept checking out your new grass room.

9:14 desertfolk praise water, while people from a jungle would want it a little bit dryer. It's all about your position, and in yours, it's like a gem The skeletons randomly walking in and wandering around in the timelapse really gott me for some reason 😭

i was hoping for a bit of engagement, when i started i was getting maybe 10-20 comments per video, i was super stoked about that. i would have never imagined over 500 comments in a day lolol

Completely reasonable decision to not do the comment thing anymore. Ultimately sacrificing fun for a silly youtube thing can wear you down and make you lose motivation insanely quickly. Great video and work as always!

One interesting aspect these challenges often showcase is the meta change. Suddenly a grass block is "worth" more than normally.

If you die and fail the challenge, I'd totally still want to see more happen in this world. That way you could break the rules and built whatever you want, giving the place a really cool aesthetic with mew blocks and buildings etc

You can save time by having multiple signs on the walls if you were to continue it. Also you don’t need to give a dedicated sign and 3 block area for everyone. However that’s neither here or there and a cool base will probably be the better investment of time

I really enjoy this series, it's kinda relaxing to watch someone play minecraft while not screaming at your face with every sentence, it just has this feel to it that emulates what an actual gameplay would look like, and not an overly edited mess. Hope you make it far in youtube, you deserve it.

When I played with my friends on the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. The server owner had made an underground cave to a passive mob farm. He didn't realize it removed passive mob spawns from the world. Back then the world size was 500x500.

just a suggestion for the comment wall but instead of every comment do the first 25-50 comments so you have more time to do other things in the world off camera. also loving this series, it feels very cozy and homely.

this series has made me want to go back and experience the older versions again. as much as i love the newer versions the memories of zombies dropping feathers and creepers dropping sulfur are some of my favorite memories. i remember me and my sister being so scared to fight the mobs that we just dug a hole in the ground until the mobs burnt in the day time. thanks for the memories

got this series recommended to me and i'm glad i kept watching because for some reason i thought there were only 3 episodes, but was very much surprised to see more! i don't really have any suggestions for the tree room but i think maybe with some duped sand you could swap out all that lava lighting for glowstone behind glass.
