The month day year system is rooted in the fact that many people over here say something like August 28th 1925. It’s often said month day year so it’s often shortened to month/day/year.

I agree the date system is garbage, but it's based on for example, May 26th, 2021. See you write the month first, then the date and then the year.

@@toycat the reason why I think it is this way is month and day together and the year was an afterthought. At least that was my understanding in school, now it is ingrained into my head that is the only way.

You mentioned the way that Americans write the dates. The military writes the date differently than that civilian standard that you saw on that sign. Writing today's date using the military standard would be 26 MAY 2021. Once I got out of the military it was one adjustment that I had to deal with myself. On another note, I enjoy your videos. I never know what to expect from you. I get things on your channel that I'll never see anywhere else.

The "Month-Day-Year" date format actually comes from the US military and its like that because that's how calendars work. You first find the month, then the day, and traditionally there's only one year in a calendar, so its relatively unimportant. I'm Australian and always thought it was stupid too until I had that explained to me, and now I think its actually clever and more sensible than "Day-Month-Year".
