For over 10 years, there has been a wooden slab in Minecraft that acts exactly like stone. So why does it exist? Let's find out, shall we?

another thing to note: the ID for slabs was 126 and very far apart from stone slabs (44) because the IDs were chosen in order of implementation. that means that you can pretty much tell the history of which blocks had shown up over time based on their old IDs (which implies that grass was added before dirt for instance, which is in fact the case in the earliest builds of the game)
@carking01382 жыл бұрын

Science says before you laugh your brain preps your face muscles but I didn't even feel the slightest twitch. 0/10 this joke is so bad I cannot believe anyone legally allowed you to be creative at all. The amount of brain power you must have put into that joke has the potential to power every house on Earth. Get a personality and learn how to make jokes, read a book. I'm not saying this to be funny I genuinely mean it on how this is just bottom barrel embarrassment at comedy. You've single handedly killed humor and every comedic act on the planet. I'm so disappointed that society has failed as a whole in being able to teach you how to be funny. Honestly if I put in all my power and time to try and make your joke funny it would require Einstein himself to build a device to strap me into so I can be connected to the energy of a billion stars to do it, and even then all that joke would get from people is a subtle scuff. You're lucky I still have the slightest of empathy for you after telling that joke otherwise I would have committed every war crime in the book just to prevent you from attempting any humor ever again. We should put that joke in text books so future generations can be wary of becoming such an absolute comedic failure. Im disappointed, hurt, and outright offended that my precious time has been wasted in my brain understanding that joke. In the time that took I was planning on helping kids who have been orphaned, but because of that you've waisted my time explaining the obscene integrity of your terrible attempt at comedy. It might be helpful to force yourself to play single-player games when you would otherwise go to youtube. The idea is that, while you can go to youtube in an instant and get quick gratification, games take a little more of a time investment. I remember playing a tutorial world on the xbox 360 and I teared down a pre build castle on the world and noticing this wooden slab that sounded like stone and could be only mined with a pickaxe. I was really confused but now I know why. Thank you!

This was an amazing video, I watched it all the way through to the end and left a like. Who thought someone could make the history of a slab in Minecraft so interesting!

Hey I remember that! In the old pocket edition, I remember figuring out that wood slabs had to be mined with a pick and not an axe.

its such a shame that alpha leaves werent given a new name in 1.13. Dead Oak Leaves would have been a perfect name for them

Tfw you and Minecraft go back so far you remember always breaking slabs with pickaxes. It was revolutionary when I went to break a slab one day after an update and realized I had to use an axe now.

I remember learning about the wood slabs being stone in a little skit from uberhaxornova, part of his series where like, something minor would happen/be in the game and he'd just have a total breakdown over it (ah, 2013) and I remember the slabs video where he got so angry about having to mine the wood slab with a pickaxe and he went on an angry rant about it

I always wondered why wood slabs needed a pickaxe to break efficiently. That was back in 2012 or so. Sometimes I still try to use my pickaxe before I remember it was changed.

I remember in Minecraft Console Edition I would build houses made of wooden slabs because it wouldn't burn.

Ahh, I remember the days when it was strange to mine wooden slabs using a pickaxe and not an axe.

This makes me feel old. I remember them adding those slabs. Stopped playing before the new slabs came out. Watched this and learned about the new ones!

Never too late to jump back in! If you haven't been following the development of MC for the past even 2 years, the game is entirely different. Do yourself a favour and play the 1.18 update. As a beta veteran that's played every (major) update since b1.3_01, 1.18 still absolutely blows my mind. The game has come so, so far.
