[2022/60] Highway 400 - Parry Sound to Wasaga Beach, Ontario - Trans-Canada Highway

Vancouver to Toronto: Video #44 of 45. In this video we continue south towards Toronto on Ontario Highway 400, Southern Ontario's main north-south freeway route. We begin our journey in Nobel, north of Parry Sound, where Highway 69 ends and Highway 400 begins. We make a long journey south along Highway 400, following the Trans-Canada Highway route until it leaves at Highway 12. From there, we follow some roads along Simcoe County, making it to the resort town of Wasaga Beach, situated on the shores of Lake Huron.
Next week, on October 8 is the final episode of the Vancouver to Toronto series, as we take a tour of Toronto's freeways, including Highway 400, Highway 401, Highway 427, Queen Elizabeth Way and Don Valley Parkway

Good job and great help for people at my age nearing to 70 and over. Just sitting on the couch and enjoying driving at the same time on the highways surrounded by beautiful scenery. Your effort deserves a great deal of appreciation. God bless you!

Thanks for posting :) Just yesterday i drove up from GTA & covered the section between where you turned off (13:10) to Lake Joseph Rd (7:35) with my Dad. Day off work & we took in some autumn colours. Did a loop, returning on Hwy 11 via Muskoka 169 & 118.

Oh, yes. The 400. Its the only main 400-series highway of Ontario that links Southern and Northern Ontario. Its good to see its 4 lanes from Parry Sound, ON to where it meets ON 11 north of Barrie.

Also boasting the fastest speed limit in Ontario!! I can understand why it isn't 110 the whole way though.

From Barrie to the northern part of the York Region is 6 lanes and as you approach the GTA, its wider than 6 lanes and there are new HOV lanes as a new feature.

I have a theory and correct me if I'm wrong. One alternate route of the Trans-Canada Highway that follows the Georgian Bay and Central Ontario Routes bypasses Toronto, but it does touch the northern portion of Durham Region and that region is part of the GTA. It bypasses the GTA because of it's *high and increasing population* , but the route does provide a route to Toronto.
