[2022/59] Highway 69 / Future 400 - Sudbury to Parry Sound, Ontario (Trans-Canada Highway)

Vancouver to Toronto: Video #43 of 45. In this video we begin our final drive from Greater Sudbury to Toronto, first starting off taking Ontario Highway 69 / Future Ontario Highway 400. Highway 69 opened throughout the mid 20th century, and serves as the most direct connection between Toronto and Northern Ontario, and points west, like Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay. To eventually become Highway 400, much of Highway 69's route has been rebuilt as a freeway, most recently in December 2021.

This could be Future Highway 400 as it connects from Parry Sound to the Greater Sudbury Area while the exit numbers are added.

ON 69 is a nice drive. If it's widened into a freeway, ON 400 will replace all of ON 69 and mark ON 69 a historic route. Do you think that will happen after the freeway upgrades are complete?

I believe contracts have gone out for two more sections: the first one would extend the northern end freeway to just past Highway 522, while the other would extend Highway 400 northward to past Woods Road (the edge of Shawanaga First Nation). I think they have reached agreement with Henvey Inlet.

The last 2 videos are about the 400. Next is from Parry Sound, ON to Wasaga Beach in the afternoon and sunset. The last one is a night drive from Wasaga Beach to Toronto after dinner. The last video ends as he approached Mississauga after looping around the centre of Toronto counterclockwise at night with the 427, Gardiner, DVP and 401.
