No you can do that with any detector and find what's been missed or even go over with the CTX again and you again will find what you first missed, I do it all the time on my permission thinking thats it now in a certain area there isn't anything left there as iv done it to death and yet I go over it on another day an again find something.

You would have to test both before you open it up CTX has 28 frequencies at the same time from 1.5khz to 100 khz. The Equinox does not have this. You cannot compare the two. CTX 3030 beats the EQUINOX anyday

hello treassurehunter friend, I also have the ctx and would like to buy my son a good device. That's why your test was very interesting to me, but I find this not meaningful. These tests after the principle only with one look and then with the other afterwards, I find not meaningful. Not only I have this experience that you search 2-3 times with the same device a place and always finds something. Can you do this test differently? with the one device scan an area but not dig up, just mark. Then with the other device the same area and mark. you can see who has more points.

Maybe the CTX didn't pick up the coins the Nox found because you still have that fine blue line of discrimination on the bottom of the open screen

Hi Paul wouldn't it be a better comparison of the 2 detectors if you had someone swing over the exact same target before it was dug,especially as far as the depth is concerned.Also alternating detectors as to which one finds a target first, and see if the other will pick it up also. I realize it would probably take two people to do such a test.I still enjoy your videos GL&HH

Gulfcoast Digger it was more of a session to see if the ctx had actually missed anything, unfortunately i detect alone 80% of the time and my buddy uses a 305 and isnt too keen on the nox or ctx but if i can persuade him then as a few people have mentioned the same thing i would like to make it happen for you all, also trying to carry 2 dectors a sand scoop, camera and all the other stuff would be an issue by myself as i dont detect near the shoreline as the tide goes out nearly a mile as its a river estuary.. and breathe...Paul

I totally understand.I use a Sovereign XS and Excaliber for my water hunts in salt water. I'm planning on getting a Nox 600 or 800 soon.

A very good out there in the mud & rubbish strewn areas which we search trial A great feature of these detectors is that the adjustments are so variable that each individual can adjust it to suit their own method of searching . Thanks for the video.

I agree. I have both as well. Also have an Excalibur 2. Between my CTX and Nox 800, I feel the CTX is still a superior machine. $1,600 better? Not at all. But better nonetheless. Still love my Nox and the weight relief though. BTW, I also have an Excalibur 2 and I won't part with any of them. Non-Minelab detectors in my stable are the White's V3i, Surfmaster PI Dual Field, and a Garrett Sea Hunter Mk 2. I'd part ways with any of these before I'd sell any of my Minelabs.

The best test is to locate one target and the locate whit the other detector and c if the 2 detector have a good signal to dig it.

I wish I new what coins were old accept the ones you said were modern. What was the oldest coin, and how many "old" coins did you find. What years. In the US old is much younger then in Europe as you know. Thank you. Nice video!. OOOPS sorry, just saw the end with dates mentioned. Ignore what I said, but which detector do you LOVE the most. I have an XP Deus and also a Garrett 350 and I sometimes have a hard time saying which one has better finds even though the price difference is very significant. What do you think about the XP Deus?.

I was keen on buying a little used GPX 5000 for gold detecting here in West Oz, BUT I’d also like to beach detect up at the beach house for fun in holidays. Will the one machine do both? Just not sure if the GPX 5000 will work in / near salt water or if the salt water will destroy it! Can’t see me affording more than 1 detector to get started!

yes it will work for salt water but as with everything make sure it gets washed in clean fresh water afterwards..

Yes the ctx is deeper thats one reason why its double the price . i think the nox may detect some more targets due to the multi frequency , anyway 2 good detectors.

@@clarkfox7961 No Clark you have to choose which frequency you want to use with the CTX the Nox does all frequencies at the same time its the only current detector that can do it

I got bitten on 5 separate occasions when I was a kid. Even now at 50, I freeze with biggish dogs I don’t know. I’ve owned dogs all my life and one of the the first things I do is train them to not approach other people or dogs without my say so. One of my dogs is a Belgian Malinois, which have a VERY bitey temperament if they feel threatened. Because of his security training he will be aggressive on command, but I trust him 100% around other people and animals. Some owners haven’t a bloody clue about what damage a dog can do. Does my scone in.

Hey Paul, everything oké? What settings did you use on the CTX ? Did you use the beachprogram without discrimination? Was "deep" on? A lot of the guys I know use the Nox 800 and they dig a lot off very deep targets. Sometimes we did a test to find it with the CTX......but no signal. You understand that I am very curious which settings you use. Thank you very much for sharing all your adventures!! This one in particular to compare the two machines. How about the sensitivity? hey Richard..i used my settings on the ctx i have used for many years im not comparing richard this was just to see if i actually missed anything which i did either by my own fault or the ctx not actually picking it up, i shall be trying this the other way around soon

Hi Paul got a question for you I seen that you were running equinox and on your settings you had the threshold at like 4? So I would imagine that that home is in audible or maybe just audible what I really after hear is I seen someone else running their threshold on one which I know is in audible but they seem to say that there is death gained by using a slight bit of threshold And your opinion is that true?

threshold is used to give a reference point for depth or nulling, its used more for pulse induction or a threshold change on the ctx 3030 etc, with the equinox it is more personal choice, but too high and deep targets wont register as the signal has to break over the threshold to be heard

Excellent Paul, I did used to use it on my whites surf pi but it's been a long time since I had a pi machine.. I don't know for some reason I was hoy that having a slight threshold might increase the depth.. (always looking for an added edge) but thank you for straightening that out I appreciate it. great videos, you do a really good job.

Nice comparison Paul, although not easy to cover the exact same ground, surprised CTX got deeper, would tweaking the Nox make much difference?

i did mark the 4 corners with piles of sand so i knew the area plus where i had been digging was also visable going to try it with the Equinox first soon

The Nox in general is just as deep as the CTX there really isn’t much in it. The Nox also picks up a lot of targets that ,my CTX misses so all in all it levels itself out from my experience anyway. However I’ve not done any beach testing only pasture so may be a different story there and this is of course on my ground only not necessarily so for everyone. Great video by the way Paul.

paul do the same with ctx then nox but don't dig targets just mark them , then see if the nox picks up the same and any extras. oh i thought digging walking back and forth may have hand a effect on you our grid pattern. drag your scoop to show grid then work same grid with nox.

Its really personal preferance if you want a cmd carbon shaft there isnt anything wrong with the stock shaft and the carbon shaft is lighter.. that hat is a promo one not to buy at the minute

Do you have any idea when you are going to do the next test. When you get a iffy target with the equinox can you either mark it and not dig it until you go over it with the ctx or just check it right away with the ctx But just let us know what the equinox numbers are. I am thinking of getting the equinox already own 3030. Thank You and great post

For those who watch videos about comparisons of machines.... you should know that you cannot determine if one machine is better than the other unless you are comparing each signal gotten by each machine with the other machine... BEFORE DIGGING... because any machine worth anything will find a target on top in plain view... but you want to know if one machine can see targets the other can not BEFORE investing to buy a $5000 machine...

to be honest im not too sure about the extra depth on the equinox with the 15 inch coil but it does cover more area and is still very sensitive

@@paulcee thanks for replys now that i have your attention i have one more question: kind of open ended though. i have beem looking at diff brands and models. i see the garret model like ace and AT have the lcd screen that shows a lot of info. it seems to me the models that have a good reputation for salt water use dont have a screen with all the info. do you think you are loosing something with the ones with no number readout? i ask because i do live near a beach even though i will prob use on land more but i dont want to be unable to use in the surf. so can someone be just as effictive after some practice and swing time with the audio only ones like an excal ii or etc?

Interesting Paul, I can see you are a little frustrated with the scoop not clearing the sand/mud from the tip of the scoop like your old favourite scoop did, sling it in the bin and get the repaired one out.....🤣

@@paulcee я понял))). СТХ точнее определяет,что под землей, монета это или металл.И посмотреть можно на дисплее.Эквинокс пока гудит на все подряд,эквинокс похож на 705,только за большие деньги)))

извините за мои плохие переводы. но CTX 3030 по-прежнему является одним из лучших пляжных металлоискателей при правильном использовании, мой друг использует 305 с очень хорошими результатами, но только с сухим песком.

@@paulcee всё хорошо,я понимаю перевод)). Согласен, СТХ 3030 сейчас лучший детектор и нет смысла искать замену.

I doubt that a CTX3030 cannot find 2 Pence at 8". I love my NOX 800 but I dont think this comparison was ahem, technical or factual at all. But nice quality video!

The nox is top technology. Minelab seen the writing on the wall, a new era is here XP, and Nokta Mikro are nearly as good but much cheaper, so nox was minelabs answer.

This is not proof what so ever ,the only way you can do a "VS" video is to have both detectors on open screens and hit the same target with both detectors ,I have detected the same hot spots for 2 years with out it being plouded using my CTX and I still find stuff ,you only need to be a few inchs off the target to miss it ,the only way to do this is the same way Pondguru did by doing a side by side video ,utter rubbish ,not you Paul just some of the comments left by pp that have no clue ,no one has yet done a propper CTX vs NOX video ,I have asked 4 pp who got both but they have yet to do one

it was only to see if i had actually missed anything, as i said at the very beggining.. the problem lies with i have one pair of hands i dont detect near the shoreline so carrying detectors, cameras, scoop and everything makes it quite tricky, i know very well the capabilities of both detectors hence why i still use both
