The Minelab Equinox is a simultaneous multi frequency beast of a metal detector. The Nokta Makro Anfibio Multi has a beach mode but it operates at one frequency at a time. The Equinox is primed for the beach and has an algorithm that marries the multiple frequencies that it runs in together. The Anfibio has a temper though and a mean streak. It is highly capable. I pulled a 16 inch signal with it in the dirt and a platinum ring with it in this video. This video compares the performance of the Anfibio and Equinox; two very popular detectors with cult followings.

Hey there. Detectorist from Maine here. I went with the nox 600 when it first came out and think I made the right choice. I was really interested in the nox because its waterproof and all the waterproof headphones are wired, not wireless. So I didn't see any reason to pay that much more just for a gold mode and wireless headphones. I have had amazing experiences with my equinox 600. Huge turn off the century 18k mens rose gold signet ring with a large hand carved tigers eye stone. Around 18 US large cents for the season and other rare coins such as a 1838 caped bust half dime and many more. A bunch of jewelry and relics. All this year. I think you nailed it. It's a great machine right out of the box, great general purpose machine that handles salt water with ease.

I watched the video from start to finish. It was less of a comparison between the 600 and and the Anfibio than I was expecting and more of thumbs up for the Equinox. I am still trying to decide which way to go.

My anfibio hits some deep stuff. I don't have the multi. I have the anfibio 14 and 19. The 19 is really deep on land. The equinox is fairly deep. I've hit targets with equinox that my simllex couldn't hit. If you are hunting beach mostly go equinox. Land neither one will disappoint. I haven't had my anfibios but a week I've had my nox 600 a few months. My simplex a month or 2.

I live in Georgia and the ground is moderately mineralized around metro Atlanta. I have the Equinox 600 and have found quarters at 12 inches, dimes at 10 inches. It is a great machine. It has all 5 frequencies but you can't use the 20 or 40 khz alone, and doesn't have the 2 gold modes. Glad to here you like it too.

What other machines have you swung in Atl? I'm in Gwinnett & have been researching my next machine and just CAN'T decide! I'm leaning towards an Impact but after watching this, who knows!

@@Metrorenovationsandmore I have the Garrett AT Pro and Teknetics T2 SE And will be swing the Nokta Makro Simplex soon. For $254.00 The Simplex will do just as good as any of my machine in depth and recovery time, anyway from what I have heard on youtube

@@ronalddvorak1967 Thanks for the reply! I just saw an awesome comparison by swampkritter on the Simplex Vs. the XP ORX. I do like that simplex but am now leaning towards that ORX. The Impact is a bit "complicated" for me. Love the T2 SE too! GL & HH

Thank you man. Another good thing to consider is how easy it is to get something repaired. After bringing my 600 out for a swim I found it had fish living in it. Within seven days I had a new one in my hand.

Dan Tirrap We must think a like because the minute I saw fish in the other detector I went online and got the multi. I did send the knocks out for repair and they were quick about it but I didn’t want to go along time without a good detector sometimes a good reason is just a good excuse

Try ground balancing in Beach mode...then switching to 2-3-4 tone modes. It will keep the GB setting...and IMO becomes much better on the signals. As far as I am concerned...Beach mode should be used to GB only...then move back to the tone modes.

@@MetalDetectingNYC If you leave it to time out it will set it for that mode only...if you hit "Select" it will save it for all modes and not change.

I confirm...just GB on Beach Mode. Normally after that i use 3 Tone mode. Really fantastic. NOTCH 96-99. Gain 88-93. No other beats the Anfibio. Try it.

Best Setting for Beach on Anfibio: Ground Balance on Beach Mode. Change to 3 Tones. Then change frequency to 20 kHz. Disc 7, Gain 93. Notch 96 to 99. Works perfect

BEACHES!!!!! I have found rings in dirt but they are more scarce. Rings drop off fingers in water because fingers shrink & wrinkle. GOOD LUCK and go get em!!!

When i used my anfibio on the beach i used 3 tones i was able to hear bottle caps and quarter beach mode dosen't u can set ur tones on the anfibio i started digging solid signals cause jumpy ones was always trash

When you lost the signal it was probably when you took out the scoop of sand you just missed it and it's sunk down lower out of the range of the detector if it happens again dig out a couple of scoop fills to see if you can find it again try to get a deep as possible GL&HH Simon

On the beach it is indeed a great detector , for all other occasions it is nothing special. The only reason i like it is that it is a multi frrequency detector , or a multi iq as they say... Had mine and sold it , just not my cup of coffee.. But on the beach it was working like a dream.

I just discovered you right now. Anyways you're in the area with shallow targets not like the beaches I hunt, that's why I sold my Equinox and bought a beach Hunter which does work better for deep gold. I wasn't too impressed with the equinox not at the end, before I sold it.

One thing I can attest to is the solidness and build quality of Nokta/Makro machines. Nothing worse than a wobbly lower stem.

For a first time buyer, I would go Equinox. The Nokta is customizable while the Equinox uses multiple bands.

Deff get a 800, alot more settings and faster. Quick tip is to noise cancel with it waist high and not on ground.

I went from Bounty Hunter LRP (it’s my wife’s Florida detector now because it’s light) to a Garrett AT Max (I abhor the audio and not a salt machine), to an Equinox 600. It took about 100 hours of detecting, almost memorizing the manual, and devouring every Nox video I could find before I felt like I was one with the machine. BUT...once I reached that epiphany moment, you couldn’t tear that machine away from me with a team of horses. After seven months with the 600, I wanted to tailor the machine to target specific target groups, so I purchased an Equinox 800 a month ago, and the 600 is now my backup machine. I hope you find something worth enough to sell so,you can jump to the Equinox sooner than later. There are a bunch of the 600’s available on the used market. I got mine for $500 back in December, and they can be had for less,than that now. Keep up the good videos!

Can you ground balace in the water for cleaner signal..l am very novice,, my last detector was a sharp shooter..l just bought a Kruzer multi for my GF and got myself the Anfibio multi and know l have A LOT to learn.. l wanted a detector l would not outgrow but l now think l bought a Ferrari and lve only rode a tricycle!

I have a Impact.... I'm up for a new one, between the equinox 800 and Anfibio multi. From what I've seen of the two... the equinox will find everything the nokta will. And target ID is better. The Deus …. well... I'd save my money If I were you.... Deus you have to charge 3 aspects of 1 detector... coil... control box... and earphones. + Deus seems to have too many settings. Even when testing on video, the operator, always adjust it a little to make it hit... on the test objects. When the Deus first hit... sure... it was the one. But today, I personally think both the equinox & anfibio equals or betters the Deus, and more easily. The equinox 600, I think doesn't have 2 of the frequencies the 800 has.... but it does have them, when operated in all frequency mode. THAT I think is very cool about the 600. Good Video

I use the anfibio not at the beach, it is not a good beach machine as described by the Manufacturer. It is a Monster in certain areas..

I can never understand why anyone for 100 bucks would pick to 600 over the 800 it’s not just a couple little things there’s so much more to it especially in iron bias etc.

Show me what the 800 can find more than 600 iv been out with people with both and they both hit targets the same in multi u can make the tones sound different on 800 but u can still get it with 600 but the 800 will go deeper for gold mood in 40htz that's it

I dont think its any different than the 600 with the exception of the gold modes and the headphones. 600 was perfect!
