Never liked coiltek monos. Great DDs. Should have had the same size coil on both machines for a true comparison.

I do wish someone would also make a 12x7 DD ‘or’ 10x5 DD for the GPX 6000. It would help better with hot ground and highly mineralize bedrock.

i agree! the 14" dd is a super coil but a smaller size dd would be killer!

Did you know that the ‘old’ Coiltek Joey 10x5 DD not only handled hot mineralization ‘better’ but also was ‘more’ sensitive than the Joey 10x5 MONO when searching shallow exposed bedrock. But after about +3” inches or so then the Joey 10x5 MONO takes over as being more sensitive and deeper searching. ~That is why we need a 12x7 DD ‘or’ 10x5 DD for the GPX 6000 which ‘also’ will be ‘better’ than the existing 14 DD at some specific tasks but not all tasks.

auto smoothing can dull the 7000 down from what ive read, mine stays off

Audio not Auto. I usually keep mine on Low. Off can mask a very faint response in my experience, but it depends on emi levels on the day and also your sensitivity setting.

@@neilrawlings3724 Audio Smoothing is like the stabilizer setting in early GPX machines. Too much Stabilizer (high smoothing) and you get a very stable threshold, but faint signals may not be strong enough to break through. No stabilizer (smoothing off) lets all the audio through including any noise the detector can pick up. This works well in stable environments, but if you have a very chatty threshold this can mask a very faint signal. Low Smoothing is sort of a happy medium.
