mineral identification Hardness

12 жыл бұрынA simple introduction to one of the various ways we can identify minerals, in this case we look at how each mineral has its own hardness, by performing a scratch test with a set made up from the minerals in this video you can determine the minerals hardness and this will help to identify the mineral. However there are minerals with hardnesses that lay in between these and also some minerals not on the Mohs scale have the same hardness as those that do, so hardness testing is just one of the tests needed to identify a mineral, but its one of the first tests that should be done.

zasabiibasaz Sorry for the late reply, I dont really like to talk about money with my specimens but it did not cost as much as you might think as it is not gem quality. it's 1.6ct and is about 6mm wide. I got it back in the 90's the price may have increased now, or possibly decreased!
