Great video. I needed to change the battery in my Mini after now driving it since March lockdown and its now nearly Feb! Straight to the point, well instructed, perfect Mini battery change video. Well done! 👍🏻🤘🏻

hi, thanks for the video, but wondering did you register the battery, im a little confused because the wiring is telling me that the netrual is connected to the ECU, just wondering as i dont want to damage a expensive new battery

Hi Philip, no i did not but it is advisable to register the battery as new as suggested by some of the commentors.

Hi Johnny, would like to ask, heard that R series changing car battery might surged/fried the FRM, do you know any ways to prevent it ?

No buddy. Most of the memories and their associated functions which will be lost when you remove the battery can be easily reprogrammed or re-learned after 100 +/- km of driving. Except, when you have a radio anti-theft system, you may need to use one.

When changing to a new battery, the new battery must be registered to the cars computer. Damage can occur if this is not done!

Did some googling. According to BMW, newer version of BMW/Mini equip with Intellegent Battery Sensor (IBS), thus requires to register to prolong battery life. Not sure mine has it...thanks for the tips buddy.

@@johnnytan4503 Not all Minis require battery registration. The ones that do have a small electronic component attached right next to the negative battery terminal. As far as I can see in the video yours does have that electronic component so you do need a battery registration. It tells the computer you installed a new battery so the computer tells the alternator to charge it accordingly. In other words the alternator charges an old battery for different intervals than the new. You can do the registration with an obd2 scanner that supports battery registration. Hope this helps.
