I like this. Kind of reminds me of Not From Concentrate builds. You might enjoy their stuff too.

Another great project. I would choose the walnut panels for this case. Well done!

Now that's something I'd love to build out. I'm seriously looking at a Creality Falcon 2 and a Prusa Mk4... However, I'd want to "blow this up" to handle an E-ATX board, an RTX CPU, etc. but this looks great! Beats all the glass and steel cases everyone else is coming out with...

I've actually been thinking of scaling this up to a mini PC build

@@MichaelKlements I love the aesthetics of the design... any chance of talking you out of the design files you used so I can do my own scale up? May do something else with the side panels..... my Mom wants one.. lol

I REALLY like the walnut case.. A LOT!!! (I would have chose a dark stain tho, but it still came out BEAUTIFUL!) - But with the lighter case I would have removed the IP addresses on the windowed panel.. and MAYBE even the 'Turing Pi 2' .... or changed the 'Turing Pi 2' to look different than the walnut case, but the IP address es clutter up the smoothness of the light wood, but work REALLY WELL with the grain of the walnut - - EXCELLENT WORK!!!

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts. Its really interesting to see how people perceive different designs - I actually thought the text on the lighter case looked better and I was going to remove it from the walnut version haha.

Interesting. Aesthtically speaking, a clear full side would have been prefered, but i liked your design method more! plus youe had more pactice at t too! Well done!

The great thing with a modular design like this is that you can just swap out the side panel for a full clear one if you prefer that look. I just wanted to do something a bit different in this build since most of my others have a full clear side panel.

Great design, I like the wallnut one. Are you going to provide your files for printing and cutting?

Cool design, but honestly the acrylic design was very cool too. Cheers for the walk through, nice laser machine. Did you CNC cut the acrylic insert? Which CAM/laser software do you use?
@MichaelKlements

I like this modular design because it gives you that flexibility. If you prefer the acrylic design then you can just swap the wood panels out for acrylic ones. The acrylic piece is laser cut but on a CO2 laser. I use Lightburn and Fusion360.

What's the reason for turning off the air-assist when engraving? Surely you still want smoke blowing away from the lens to keep it clean? Looks like a useful piece of kit (with adequate enclosure and fume extraction). Thanks for the video.
@MichaelKlements
@MichaelKlements Жыл бұрын
If you use air assist when engraving then you blow the smoke back down onto the work piece and this causes yellowing around the edges of the engraving. When cutting there is a path through the piece to the other side, so the air blows the smoke though to the underside of the piece.

Buying from Creality is buying from a company with "GREAT" customer support? What world do you live in?
@MichaelKlements
@MichaelKlements Жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issues with their customer support. I have four Creality 3D printers which have never given me any trouble, aside from general maintenance. Spare parts are readily and cheaply available and I've only once had a part go missing during shipping and they shipped a replacement out two days later. This is leagues ahead of most other Chinese printer and laser manufacturers who are next to impossible to get a response from and stop selling spares a few months after launching a product.

crazy that the laser is more expensive than the 50w chinese "omtech" leser i was looking at 😂 wich is not the cheap k40, is enclosed no not as dangerousfor your eyes, can cut acrylic has watercooling a true exhaust....

50W CO2 lasers definitely have their place and are a bit more versatile. I have some of these as well and yet I still use a diode laser to cut and engrave wood because they produce better quality results.
