Is it only tempature outside this displays does it show speed? The mini I just got I think has a faulty one as its blank. Just curious if it does more than outside temp

Mine only did outside temp but some have a full onboard computer. My other mini has outside temp and speed.

Nice video Tony, i'm having the same problem on my r50. Mine has multiple functions... do you know of i can repair or replace just the LCD? There is not so many parts of mini in my country :P

I'm not sure if you can buy just the LCD but I found that the hole clock is quite cheap from a car breakers. Ebay is also very good 👍

Is this also possible for a 2011 countryman mini cooper ? It seems like it has a white plug but other videos show the whole dash needing to come of

Can you upgrade the rev counter in a R50 to one for a R53/52?

They will all swap pretty much but the car will only show what's programmed. You can get it reprogrammed to show mph and a few other things. I think some mini indi garages do it for around £80.

Does the replacement one need coding to the car? And does it show the original mileage? Thanks

It's only the rev counter and temp and on some the MPG comp but the milage is kept on the ECU. This is a straight replacement and NO coding needed on the R50 R52 & R53 Hope this helps.

I have a complicated question when the engine isn't on but the ignition is on my dash works and sound but when I start it the led switch doesn't work or the sound but from the outside my indicators work anyone know what's going on? I did replace the radio and this happened Ive checked all the fuses looks fine

It sounds to me like you could have a problem with the BCM. It's in the foot well on the right side. Check for water ingress and inturn dry naturally and not on a radiator. Hope this helps.

I have a mini one r50 1.6 2003 and no tachomter just a plastic cover, how is it possible?

I'm not sure what you mean. I did think all mini's came with a tachometer? I would take a look under the plastics and see if there is some wires and if so, buy a tacho and fit it.

@@tonyrepairs5558 there are two wires that are plugged into the direction of the steering wheel. One is black and one is green. Maybe the green one is for the tachometer but im not sure maybe its for airbag/honk or somethung. How is it plugged in your mini?

@Roger-wu2eg from memory I think the two wires your talking about are for the airbag. The wires for the tacho don't go to the steering wheel. The wire should ve just under the top plastic cover where the tacho fits.

I've had a few minis and they have all shown different things. My r53 shows the outside temp and speed. My old r50 which is in the video just showed the outside temp but I did have an r50 that showed lots of different things as it had the full onboard computer. Hope that helps. You do need to check the part numbers. 👍

@@tonyrepairs5558 thanks for the quick reply. Mine is a 2001 Cooper there is no Coontrol to enter any menu on the stick so I assume it's likely to show temp then. Thanks for the help and the video.

@Immortal yes if you dont have the button on the indicator arm then you will just have the outside temp 👍
