I love your ultra-low cost alternative to T-track and T-bolts and the cost of a T-slot router bit. Definitely a technique to keep in mind. The idea of a demountable router table is also brilliant - a real space-saver as well as being able to easily take it to on-site jobs, and your cross-fence design is really neat. All executed with your usual precision and attention to detail. Thank you.

And yet, here we are... As usual, excelent work, a joy to watch. Greetings from Argentina.

Wow phenomenal video. It was educational without words. Slow and steady and organized. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach me. I'm a beginner, and more often then not, the things I want to build are intimidating enough to convince me out of even trying. Whether it is not having the right tools, or enough space to work in, I lack the confidence and humility to try and then fail. I definitely feel inspired having watched your video. So thank you.

Absolutely true. In a lot of instances wood can be better than metal cuz it's more easily and repaired cheaper to replace. Depending on the wood; in terms of strength-to-weight ratio. Wood can turn out to be better and is perfectly acceptable for most small-to-midsize shop tools for those without access to metal working tools.

That was a really cool little router table. But the title was a bit click-baity. I mean the LCD screen was the smallest part of that build, and could have been done with a multitude of other upcycled materials.
@VidarrKerr

Yeah, I thought the same. I recycle these monitors all the time; mostly, as lights (under cabinets, under furniture, behind things) and light tables (for drawing), to view X-rays (my wife is a Dr), etc. I was hoping for something a little more substantial. This could have been done with pretty much any material, but, it was still pretty cool project.
@edwardpaulsen1074
@edwardpaulsen1074 2 жыл бұрын
I fully agree... I kept looking for something more substantial and realized about half way in that he was only using the thick acrylic from the "broken LCD" and a highly uncommon or very old one at that... you won't find anything like that very easily... the workmanship and creativity was outstanding and hand making tools you need is always fascinating... but absurd clickbait like that really turns me away...

I have taken a few of these apart and i have never found one with a thick layer of plastic like that. I have only found thin sheets that are polarized and thin Fresnel lenses. But also a small piece of 1/4 in Plexiglas wouldn't set you back that much.
@ksp1278
@ksp1278 3 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. The DIY Perks youtube channel has much better ways of using an LCD panel. I feel that the bit of plastic was such a small part of this table that it didn't really justify it being the title of the video. Could have used anything for that insert.
@nominalvelocity
@nominalvelocity 3 жыл бұрын
That style of diffuser would only be on newer edge lit panels, those little nubbins on the surface channel light like little fiber optic pieces. So it's going to be highly dependent on what style of monitor / lcd you decide to sacrifice. Small scraps of lexan or acrylic could be sourced from sign shops or industries that use those materials for free or little cost.
@choiceblade
@choiceblade 3 жыл бұрын
Ok. Thanks for the valuable input, and effort to contribute inspired ideas, and devoted execution. WTF? Who cares, dude? Look at where your mind goes. It's a kind of almost jealous reflex you exhibit. Same for ksp1278 and nominalvelocity below. Why on EARTH would you focus on the most imaginatively shitty observations you can dredge up? Who cares...after the performance above?!? Seriously? Taking what you say at face value, you're all probably makers yourselves and comparatively magnificent at what he does above. All one has to do to find the contributions you three eagle-eyes make here pathetic is to put "If you happen to find one of these or already have one..." in front of "...try this at home.". I'm not tryin' ta beat up on ya'll. I'm saying if you open your mouth, let it be useful to someone or something besides your own delicate sensibilities (ego)? Yeah. See something good and tip your fuckin' hat, dude. "I never found one of these." Who cares? "title was click bait" not really and who cares? "you could find plastic elsewhere" If this is all you guys can come up with to offer the community who appreciates this type of content, reexamine your fucking audience. Know who you're speaking to, and just shut the fuck up. Take it to your mommy. Ok, I'm done.

@@choiceblade except the title of the video is specifically to point out using a broken(fairly new style) monitor to achieve this when it servered little purpose here. If you already have the damaged monitor, great go for it. Going out of your way to find one of these monitors with that kind of board is not very productive though. I think that's the point these people were making. Still a great build and they show lots of skill, but the video could have just been titled making a routing table from scrap or something similar. The monitor really didn't matter much as the material could have been not as nice and easily sourced elsewhere. Still a cool video

@@choiceblade The guys are right. The monitor played little role in this build and a shitty use of a broken monitor for a DIY project at that. The guy in the video is certainly skilled but so what, so am I and millions of other people. It doesn't justify the misleading title or the fact that is audio is nothing but power tools ripping into plastic or wood for 23 minutes.

Para los que, como yo, que solemos hacer "chapuzas", ver a este señor trabajando complace más que ver un "peliculón"... ¡Qué arte!
