I hadn't considered a few things prior to purchasing the sexy new speedometer. It would be helpful if you watched this video to familiarize yourself with the factors to contemplate beforehand.

"I bought this bike for myself, I bought it to enjoy it, I bought it to customize it". Damn! I wish more people were that honest about their bikes. Again and again I see people wittering on about how much their bike has depreciated, or not wanting to change anything in case it affects the resale value. FFS! Did they buy this bike just to resell it, it to enjoy the bike they chose with a view to it being their bike for a long time.

Resale value and insurance are the two most common reasons to give up on the idea to make the bike your own. For me it is just a price to pay for the incredible fun and joy of customisation process. Seeking for parts, planning the upgrade, staying up until very late (or sometime very early) to finish the build - basically have your own ‘man’ hours and be doing what I enjoy doing (to the best of my ability) - this is what I paid for. Thanks for your support, Brian! Means a lot to me! As we speak, I am finishing the wiring project. Unfortunately, messed up my measurements and got the cables of wrong gauge. Bigger. Would be fine to carry the load but harnesses is becoming massive. Hence delaying the build a little bit

@@thesundayrides I have lost count of the times I have said to other riders "This is YOUR bike, make it yours. Or did you pay all that money so you can borrow it till someone else comes along?" Some people are like Human Magpies. They like the shiny, they like the new and then their eye is caught by something MORE SHINY!

@@B0M0A0K exactly! And you know, to help me cope with my own internal magpye I got a decent used bike. It looked brand new but already depreciated 30% from that showroom virgin price tag. So magpye is not interested!!

I have an interceptor canyon red and I love it, easy to maintain, easy to customise and I enjoy riding it.

Canyon red looks awesome! They had great selection of colours on those year models. Absolutely agree! And those are exactly the reasons why I got an interceptor and why I love it so much.

After watching your video and looking at the Baak website I really like the speedo like yours, but the 80mm one with the revs included looks more like my taste. I am considering getting one from Baak because they customise the speedo to put the indicators on when low on fuel. Baak are very expensive though. I think I would put it above the handlebars so as not to remove my eyes from the road too much. But yours looks great where it is. I like the look of the one that is sitting in the headlight too, looks great The first mod I have done is to put some washers behind the speedo/rev counter plate at the top so that it is facing a bit more upright, much better. I tried to adjust the gear lever so as to give more room between it and the footrest but it hit the frame, so had to put it back Have now ordered the Tec footrest mod kit and the bar risers. I am 6' 1" so I need to adjust the ergos to suit. I do this with most bikes and it makes a lot of difference. Am also considering getting some different pipes as the stock ones stick out and look too big to me. The Baak shorty ones look great and improve the look of the bike Those bars you have will probably be coming soon 😀 Will keep following your videos, thanks for your honesty BTW

Thanks for your comment and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do have Baak's speedo - it does indicate the low fuel, but it does so very early, when I still have 5-6 litters of fuel. Bars are really good. Very happy with them. Good luck making your bike yours!

I really like the way this looks. In the states, any local license branch can document the speedometer change, so there’s proof of actual mileage.

Hi, I've been looking into something like this, and that unit looks great! I would prefer it mounted above the bars though, rather than between bars and tank. Does the bracket allow it to be mounted so this can be achieved? Thanks!

Hi, Andrew! Thanks! It seems that bracket that I got would allow to turn it around and mount in front of the bars, but I didn't try it because it would also require the relocation of the ignition and I am not able to find a decent mount for that. I think I saw an alternative mount, that allows to put on ON the handlebars, in the clamp area for example or next to the controls. There is also one, that has a single hole and can place the speedo to the side of the ignition. But for now I went with the bracket the speedo came with. Best of luck!

Hey Andrew! Just checked again and I don’t think that the bracket that comes with Daytona from baak will fit in front of the bars. It seems that it will clash with the ignition holder. You may need to get creative or.. find another mount. Hope it helps. Max

Beautiful speedo am going to get those. Those long wires destroy the look of the front . If you figure out a way to hide those would love to see a video on that .

Max i dont suppose you know which coloured wire goes to which pin on the connector plugs on daytona speedo. Was going the cheapest route and wiring it up myself. Thanks mate.

Also, I think they did a mod to be able to read fuel level. I don’t know about it, but it is a simple resistor or something, so the speedo can read voltage… you need to look this one up, but I can certainly help you with the wire colours

Mate that would be amazing! I have all the connectors and pins from when I wired up my new switch gear on my GT 650. Impressive that you have customised your harness and got the wiring all hidden. Your bikes turning into something to be very proud of.

@@bomulus1 you are more than welcome! The wiring job is still in progress, it is very difficult without proper tools and experience. And I am learning as I go, sometimes by doing things twice 🤦‍♂️

There is one warning light only. I suspect BAAK made it show all warnings, but I am not sure.

Here is similar to the one I got - www.digital-speedos.co.uk/gauges-c4/velona-2-200-black-speedometer-wl-60mm-mph-kph-speedometer-with-warning-lights-p766 (it comes with the wiring that would require adaptations) - this one is much cheaper And here is the one from baak, with wiring ready for installation www.baakmotocyclettes.com/en/parts/5007-tiny-daytona-speedo-for-royal-enfield-650 Also watch out for decent used ones on eBay
