Making a compact treadle hammer, of my own design, for my tiny shop. Version One. Low cost build using simple tools that any hobbyist might have. Enjoy!

buying a welder and paying someone a slab of beer to show u, would get u good enough to weld a bench in a day. learning to hot glue is worth it. search for a makers space or mens shed.

Dude absolutely brilliant with the limited space and parts fantastic work , now you can find springs at some hardware stores like harbor freight, or tractor supply now also if you put a n extra hinge on the pedal like halfway cut the middle of the lever arm install hinge and you’ve got a more ergonomic pedal and your leg won’t tire as quickly

Great build, improvement might be to have the hammer over center of mass.

Have you looked into a Da Vinci power hammer? You could probably do something similar with a small electric motor of some kind

How long is the hammer handle?

I cut it down to just over a foot.

Not just one of these particular springs . They don't have enough play. I'm daisy chaining six or seven and checking the range. Initial tests are good. Big improvement on striking force. Should be a update video up soon.

Mount the spring higher, it needs to swing down not just drop!

Totally agree. I'm thinking about an additional spring with a higher mount or a light leaf spring.

Doubt that much can be done with it but a body has to start somewhere. I am sure over time that you will improve into a real working treadle hammer. Maybe even a mini power hammer.
