Plans for this project here: paskmakes.com/premier-project...
I've wanted to build a Mini Workbench for a long time and now I finally got around to it. Another project, hopefully in the near future is an outdoor workbench that will have no vices. That's the reason I've built this Mini Extendable Workbench. I'll be able to clamp it onto the outdoor bench and have lots of clamping options with the vice and dogs!
I didn't go into too much detail with the vice build as I've already covered that in previous videos.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

FWIW, it just occurred to me that if you put magnets on the bottom of the dogs, they could not only pull up the extension stops but, if you put magnets in the bottom of dog-sized holes in the side of the workbench, they would hold the dogs in place when not in use.

That’s right Ben. I spent my first few months clamping boards to my kitchen sink. Once I made the mini work bench, I would clamp it down to my kitchen table. Now, I have a bora work table that I can quickly put up and take down and clamp this mini workbench to the top. Works great and easy storage!

@Falconhoof Lots of patience and time (the lockdowns helped with that one). I used a wooden handscrew clamp clamped to my kitchen countertop as a makeshift vice, cut all the maple with a Japanese hand saw, cordless drill for holes, and cleaned up stanley no. 5 for flattening and squaring things up. Boy are things easier now that I actually have the vise to work with.

Beautiful work. I take a shower and I’m about to go to sleep like most nights I start watching KZfaq. Then every time I watch your videos I always get back up and either sketch one of your ideas for later or get dressed and end up in bed at the wee hours of the morning, covered in sawdust from yet another project you inspired. I thank you for it but I’m pretty sure my wife hates you 😂. Great video. Now , off to the garage I go for a new mini-workbench.

Bud, the phrase you want to use here is "simple cnstruction" not 'simplistic' . The first is an exprtession of praise, while the latter is definitely NOT.

Thank you. It is so nice to know that some self appointed individual will always be around to edit and revise other peoples mistakes. Imagine my surprise when I opened my KZfaq to find out that my very own reincarnated William F. Buckley had decided to proofread my remarks to an Australian craftsman. First of all, the word simplistic in itself, is an adjective. When I graduated from High School over 50 years ago, it was my understanding that an adjective modifies or describes a noun. The word construction can be a noun when used to describe a creation. In using the term "simplistic construction", I was making that very point. My statement, as written, was correct and your interpretation of my MEANING was incorrect. Also, Mr. Buckley, I would like to point out that you spelled the work 'construction' incorrectly. I have taken it upon myself to show you the correct spelling, should it become the object/subject of future attempts to correct someone against their will. Have a wonderful day.

Oh, I forgot. Hidden in my response, I intentionally made another mistake. See if you can locate that mistake. I added it purely for shits and giggles.

Sorry, one final thing. You also misspelled the word 'expression'. I did note that earlier, but failed to include it in my original response.

I have found a poor mans version of your mini workbench, its made by Sjoberg, they make two, one has a lot of MDF in its makeup so I will take a miss on that one, but the second one is the Sjobergs Smart Workstation Pro and is all beech, its not a patch on yours(no extention) but seems to be the best available, I might even be able to modify and improve on it, I wont know until i get it. @Norbury53 Check with your local cabinet makers. I just got a job at a cabinet maker, we use RIDICULOUSLY good plywood, and we burn our offcuts. I'm DYING looking for things to do with those offcuts. Sooooo, I'm getting one of Andrew Klein's miter fold dado saw blades from Rockler so I can make nice boxes out of this expensive scrap!! :-)

Norbury53 Hey mate, I agree 100% I did shop fitting on and off for eight years all over Australia and even new Zealand. The only time I ever saw ply being used was on expensive commercial pieces or high end retail pieces. Everything else was just shitty old MDF. As a hobbiest wood worker, it made me cry inside not seeing real timber used. That being said though, one of the builders I worked with was close to 70. He’d actually done his apprenticeship in antique furniture restoration back in the 60’s. I saw some pics of some of the things he’d built in his spare time and they were sensational. If I ever won the lotto, I’d hire old Bill for a couple of years to teach me everything he could.

Man, I envy you the wood/tools you have to work with.....also the sureness of your moves. If I moved anywhere nearly as quickly, we'd have a pile of detached fingers..... Great ideas! What a creation of usefulness and beauty.
