This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial we focus on making some more scatter terrain to place around our recent ruined buildings for the tabletop. This build uses mostly leftovers from previous builds, and is made up predominantly from foamboard scraps and some aluminum foil as the base to build on. In the video you'll see how to build in extra details to make these unique in there own way using more simple to find materials and bits and pieces. This terrain is perfect for moving around and placing as standalone cover, or items to enhance your current wargaming terrain pieces. You can certainly make these specific to your terrain setting, but what you will see here in this video will be perfect for post apocalyptic, sci-fi or modern settings. I hope you enjoy this tutorial, and check out some of my other videos on the channel, remember to subscribe to keep up to date on new tutorials...

Awesome, thank you! No problem with the language barrier mate :) , I've had to google translate a few different comments in the past so if you can't find the words, we can work around it. Thank you so much for the kind words too, I'm really glad you enjoy the videos. I have some more on the way now that my health is starting to improve again. Take care and all the best man!

The ones that sit against walls would be great as impromptu obstructions for doorways. The same piece of building or ruin terrain can have its paths modified by strategically placing the rubble piles over doors or holes. Excellent for varying a skirmish game board.

Nice! I was thinking about doing something similar with the LED smoke clouds everyone does. Have a short rubble pile with one flat side meant to go up against the wall and a cloud of cotton smoke lit up with a tea light. I was thinking that could be a way to indicate a building or section of building had been destroyed during the course of the game and could no longer be occupied.
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
oh man, that sounds awesome, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to incorporate into something like this build. I've used the tea light candles in the past and they're such a great and simple way to add lighting. Let me know how you go if you do decide to build that. Thanks for watching and for the comment mate.

What foam are you using for the rubble bits?
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
This is just foamboard bits, I usually keep a small container of small off cuts that I can just rip apart for times like this. You could use xps as well I think. Cheers.

@@RFDHobby Right, I meant was there a specific brand of foam sheet.
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
@@angrybadgerminis3077 oh sorry haha, I just grab what I can get my hands on, takes a bit to clean the paper off, but it's worth it in the end. In Australia, I get mine from either Officeworks or Spotlight, both different brands. I haven't found too much variation between foamboard brands, so any should be fine.

Why don’t you use real stones instead of ripped up foam board?
@RFDHobby
@RFDHobby 3 жыл бұрын
There's a couple of reasons I chose to do it this way. I do have heaps of this scrap foam laying around and it feels good to use as much of my purchased materials as possible, but this approach also keeps these terrain pieces easy to handle. They're not too heavy and if they come into contact with my mini's or other terrain (whether dropped on or when transporting this stuff around), they are less likely to do any damage. You could certainly use rocks for this build as I wouldn't say there's a right or wrong way, so long as you end up getting the look your going for. Thanks for the question mate.

The upside of rocks is that they look EXACTLY like rocks. The downside is that they weigh as much as rocks.
