That opening dialog is perfect. Sometimes we lose so much in the image when we put too much of the scene in it. My favorite are almost always the most simplistic images.

My favourite photo of me is taken by my OH on my old Canon G11 in Pembrokeshire. I'm a spec in the distance, on a beach looking out to sea holding my daughter's hand when she was approx 2 years old. She looks tiny next to me, there's no focal point, no lead in lines, it breaks all the 'rules' but I love it.

Your photography is quite unique. You are a great inspiration for me. Earlier I used to think that a wide angle is extremely necessary for a good landscape photograph. But you proved otherwise. I try to learn so much from your photography techniques. Another thing about your presentation that I like is you show the entire landscape and give audience the idea how the geography is. Which helps us to understand how you select your composition. Please keep doing the same for all your videos in future.

Both images are gorgeous. The simplicity and minimalism of your images is what sets you apart from most other landscape photographers and what made me follow you and watch every single video. Everyone can take the big scenes but for me the best landscape images are the simple, minimalistic, delicate ones because you need talent to find those images in the landscape. You definitely have the talent to create those special images that I love and look for in my own landscape photography.
@FelixJorgenfelt5 жыл бұрын
"Everyone can take the big scenes..." that's a sweeping statement. While I agree that minimalist landscape photos require skill, the same is true for grand landscapes. You still need to be able to frame everything within the scene in a pleasing, balanced, way. It is a lot harder than it looks. Especially if you are photographing new scenes. There are plenty of scenes that lack obvious compositions and scenes where a minimalist approach is easier. I just don't think that grand scenes should be looked down at because they are more popular :D
@steffen_a5 жыл бұрын
Felix Jorgenfelt I totally agree with what you say. Maybe I should’ve been more clear about what I mean. Of course you need skill to take good pictures of the big scenes. What I meant was that (almost) everyone can learn the skill to do that. But in my opinion minimalist pictures require you to not do the obvious but to walk around with a talented eye and an open mind to find those special compositions.
@FelixJorgenfelt5 жыл бұрын
@@steffen_a I think we can agree that minimalism requires a different skill that is often less trained and taught. Therefore it is more rare and the reward can be higher. It is also a good opportunity to find a more unique take on a scene. But most importantly it is a matter of taste.
@steffen_a5 жыл бұрын
@Felix Jorgenfelt agreed 😊

And then of course, the ice beach just blows my mind watching on screen , so to be there & experience it must be amazing. Fab to hear that although you've been many times, you never tire of it. And wonderful image of the smaller icebergs against the sand, beach & sea. Love how all the contrasting colours make the image come alive, really love it :)

Great stuff. I love the south coast of Iceland, especially between dyrholaey and jokulsarlon, just a magical landscape and feel to the whole place. Standing on top of dyrholaey, with the wind at your back, is so invigorating and one of the few experiences I've had that I would describe as 'spiritual'. Something really special about that place, plus puffins of course.
