Minimalist Sleeping in A Hammock | Floor Sleeping | Ways I sleep Minimalist Style
I have two different ways of sleeping as an Extreme Minimalist! Floor sleeping on my yoga mat, and sleeping in a hammock!
I have spent nearly three years adapting to my minimalist lifestyle. There are a few ways that I've tried to live without a bed and these are. the most effective and comfortable ways.
It's very nice to not need a large, bulky, and high-maintenance bed. I don't need to get in weird stretches to lift the mattress and shape my sheets around it, or when. I move I don't have to hire anyone to help me! This life without a bed is very freeing.
If I book a vacation at a glamping site, or Airbnb and don't feel like sleeping on a used mattress, or if I'm moving, I can easily put both of our hammocks rolled into either a backpack or a suitcase along with my yoga mat, and off we go!

I've been a full time hammock sleeper for over 2 years. I use a home made under quilt that has an electric blanket included for when I'm chilled from being out in Canadian winter. We also keep the house at 65F in winter. For the knee issue I have a dedicated full size pillow that I always place under my knees. I'm 50 years old and walk over 100km a month between getting places and my job. After a night in my hammock I always feel so good no matter how awful I feel when I get into it.

I got into hammock sleeping when working with my son's scout troop. That was when camping hammocks with bug netting and tarp were starting to get really popular. I bought one of the complete systems and have used it much more than my tent. My back thanks me.

I wrap my comforter around me in my hammock every night. Been sleeping this way for 3 years. Every night I think: how can being this comfortable be legal? And no one believes me. I found something amazing and everyone just looks askew at me. I always use a pillow under my knees and bunch my comforter around my neck, for support. I am a side sleeper too, which is the best.

Growing up we slept in Hammocks for our siestas (Spanish naps) and we slept on the floor since we didn't have our own home until I was about...7 or 8 years old. Sleeping on the floor has always felt more natural and comfortable for me. Been debating about getting a hammock instead of a bed & your video convinced me. Thank you so much for this informative video! Blessing to you and your family🙏🏽💗💞

I strongly suggest it! Honestly, floor sleeping on my yoga mat & comforter is more comfy than the hammock. I go back and forth throughout the year. ❤️

I used to sleep on the floor, and I absolutely loved it. The problem was, after two years, my back was in pain. I also started and ended those two years significantly overweight (350+ lb), and am a side sleeper, so that's what I suspect my issue was. I do miss it though, and may retry it sometime. It's really nice to be able to just roll up your bed.

You're a real shooter with that kettle. Funny, I spilled a whole mug of coffee on my mattress. I cut it up and bagged all the springs and separated the foam and disposed of it like a dead body over a few weeks time. I did this so I could avoid paying for removal. Haha. Now I bought a hammock and I'm just waiting for it to arrive. Its a camping one called a draumr 5.0. Real slick looking unit. Wish me luck.

Nicely done! I’ve ‘napped’ in hammocks a few times but have just recently discovered the real comfort and benefits of restful sleeping in a hammock. I recently purchased a Kammok Mantis and am researching a portable suspension system to use in my home. I love the casual delivery of your experience in sleeping and resting in your hammock. The background music was perfect and not obnoxiously loud like many other KZfaqs I’ve watched. You go girl!…

In 1987 I was in a severe car accident where my car flipped a few times so I've been going to the chiropractor. I was having severe back pain in 2015 and so I got rid of my bed and replaced it with a hammock for a year and I have never been back to the chiropractor again!!! Now this year I'm thinking about going back to a hammock.

I should have added this 😆! I use a drill and stud finder with a socket wrench. The hooks are in a link that's a "frequent purchase" with the Amazon listing I bought it from. I bought another set of these hooks for my son's. I use drywall to fix the holes. It's super easy. I love that there are other hammock families out there!

13Love Thank you so much for this video and being you! Last year I got a intuitive feeling that mattresses are unhealthy for us. My back started to hurt and never slept too good. So now I am looking into alternative ways to sleep and what to sleep on. I too have feeling of minimal lifestyle because nature doesn’t require for us to have all this material stuff which weighs us down. We were born without clothes, possessions and even the social thoughts/emotions that we impose on others. We are pure at birth, unless child unhealthy. We can’t take any of this matter with us so why keep it? Anyway our first house is the one our soul is in calked the body. Cleanse it, purify it and fill up with love, wisdom, intuition and act it. 13Peace

Thanks for the great overview and for sharing your experience and tips. I am about to try sleeping on a hammock as my partner moves and snores ("breathes loudly" 😅) enough for my sleep to be regularly interrupted. I've looked into the health implications of sleeping permanently on a hammock too and unfortunately there's just not enough solid research on the subject. That seems to be generalized as there isn't even any extensive research on mattresses. All these bed-in-a-box business popped up selling $3000 mattresses with absolutely no scientific support for _any_ of their claims, so it's essentially impossible to tell if a hammock is better or worse than a mattress outside of personal, anecdotal experiences.

been sleeping in a hammock for over a year and honestly will never have the clutter a mattress takes again its pointless when sleeping in a hammock is 10 times better more convenient it washes in seconds you dont need sheets dont need excessive amounts of blankets only need one small pillow and i just turn it inside out every night and that cleans any crumbs or stuff off its really nice for drinks and stuff too i just put them on the floor and dont have to think twice no night stand needed.
