Clear back in 1976 I bought used a non cabover camper very similar to this one. It only went over the cab about 18 with cupboard doors on it for storage. Little 2 burner range top, ice box & built-in propane light that also added heat. Table & seats like this one that converted into the bed. No bathroom or gray tank. 5 gal water tank. Worked great for the wife & myself. Had it on a 1/2t p/u & pulled my 17' boat as well. Nothing fancy but beat the heck out of the tent we use to use.

I agree. I’ve been at training days where we weren’t close to restaurants so we all were advised to bring a sack lunch. Those are the days I wish I had a truck camper!

Paying workers in Indiana USA is far more expensive than paying workers in Shanghai China. Plus the US is experiencing inflation. Bank APRs and gold prices are high….signs of a weak dollar.

If you have a truck that you paid likely 70-80k you shouldn’t be quibbling about the price of a camper because you already apparently have too much money or not enough debt

Wish we had an RV show that featured this many truck campers. There were only 2 at ours, all the rest were trailers and million dollar motor homes.

As a Colorado driver, I like seeing these options, but honestly, its just a well made box with a table and bed in it. At that point, I think it may be better to get a clamshell teardrop. I can tow far more weight than I can load in the bed. A clamshell would be comparable to this while keeping my truck bed available for gear. A Tab 320/500 or LittleGuy tear drop would be a significant step up too.

I agree teardrop trailers are amazing. Tiny nimble safe and warm. But I’ve camped in them and most aren’t able to sit inside at a table and towing a trailer up some trails isn’t fun especially if you have to back up or turn around. Another big selling point is these campers have no tanks so no hassles with freezing or winterizing. Not for everyone for sure…but I see their value.

There’s also a foldable Canvas BedTopper which weighs about 60# , fits perfectly on 5’, 6’, and 8’ bed pickups. They cost about $1K

Seems silly not to include a cab-over bed, which wouldn't add a lot more weight. I have a new Honda Ridgeline with 1500 lbs payload and this would be a decent option if it had a proper bed and other basic features. At this point, I'm leaning toward getting a custom built Pheonix popup. They are pricey and are a couple hundred lbs heavier than this, but they have a full cab-over bed as well as the same features of a larger camper...and still under 1100 lbs. Campers are too expensive these days to have to give up the most basic features.

On their website it shows they make various models. They have one with a queen bed slide out over the cab. Both in pop top and hard shell.

I like it. Needs a door window and a large back wi dow for say a tindra since the back window can go down. Ac might be needed. Ill buy one in a few years. Im exactly 64 inches tall. 5'4 so I may be able to stand up in it.

Me too. I guess when a company switches from wood nails and glue over to aluminum square tubing and welded frames and composite insulation walls…. the price of materials and US made labor …. the price goes up.

Thanks for this video. You always find the gems. I for 1-2: people that will use only one side of the dinette, don't know how big is the battery bank but if you want, you can solve some of the space limitations of this camper with a good power bank (say an Ecofllow delta pro or smaller, an induction cooktop to avoid open flames.

Check out the BedToppers. They’re Canvas, weigh about 60#, can fold up in a few minutes and costs about $1K

$17k is expensive. But then again I’ve seen guys spend $17k just for a custom slant back truck topper for a hummer H1. Jerry Rig Everything did just that with his electric H1 conversion.
