Very nice explanation of the W&B procedure. So if I understand the process, the CG datum is the leading edge of the wing. That makes sense because it's easily accessible. Then the only two distance data points used to find the CG are the main wheels and the tail wheel, with the moment arms being the distance from the wheels to the wing leading edge datum. Then the position of the wings themselves is accounted for by calculating the CG as a percentage of the chord. Simple! Wayne Ison must have independently calculated what percentage-of-chord was acceptable. An interesting method! Congratulations on the excellent results! BTW, did you ever have to remake the aileron brackets? I remember your had a clearance problem between the aileron and wing.

I didn’t have to make them. I still would add 1/8” if I was starting fresh. The sheet in the manual makes it real easy to run the numbers. You understand it clearly.

So you have to do all this again with the aircraft completly empty and with it full of fuel to get the moment for the pilot and fuel so you / other can calculate if they are within CofG limits with diffenant fuel and pilot combinations. Good video and so happy you are within, without the engine move.

We’re gonna put some fuel in it tomorrow for the first time and hopefully run the engine after doing our fuel flow test. We plan to get some numbers with 3 gallons in each tank.

@@robertdaly9870 Will need that information in order to recalculate the CG under "adverse loading conditions," i.e., light pilot - heavy pilot.

Dennis, the booklet that contains your W & B sheet..did you put that together or is it available from TEAM? I don't recall seeing the chart you refer to at minute 26:53. Could you please provide that to me (us) as a pdf or link? I am just about ready top do W & B on my Himax 1700R. I have the worksheet, I think, but the other info in your book that I saw was all new material to me. Thanks. Lynn Garner, El Paso TX ps. Great info.

Can you explain your graph at 27.30 sir? It says Total Weight "including" Pilot. Wouldn't you be in B category or off the scale? Not picking, just trying to understand. I am so excited for you.

Yea the weight across the bottom includes the pilot on board so we fall between 520 and 560. Then we just go up to our CG at 29% which has us in the A section.

or build a plane from old bike frames . or timber ..two by four frame or ...some way simpler construction just crude wood and plyplates as wings , in a strong simple way l guess not glue then ,maybe just test strenght of timbers by weight test in middle see if cracks , .. would it work for a few flies at least , fun vid for youtube safer to remote control with man weight sandbag in seat. or old plane wings on old car drive till lifts no propeller j8

@@DTMinimax a few wild ideas on crude builds for fun and youtube first time done , saw one very old style no controls on wings just rudder. just some old car engine maybe . that glider car idea should work wonder why nobody ever did it will could be a hit video when done .
