You have some serious nad’s taming the mini on pavement. As you can tell she’s touchy. I’ll stop being a puss and give the pavement another shot. The grass is forgiving. I don’t fly to my friends airport in the minimax just because I’ve scared myself a time or two on the pavement with it. Well done !

Thanks Josh! It was really the 3+ hours I spent doing the taxi testing with the line offsets. It made a huge difference.

I believe I’ve narrowed my rpm issue down to my fuel vents

@@DTMinimax Fuel venting is often an issue and normal car filler caps with a vent holeor around the base at the top can be a issue on aircraft due to the ventury effect producing a vacuum, that said, it should be mitigated by your fuel pump. I have seen a fuel tank with a vertical vent tube fitted partly flattend by the low pressure in the tank. That is why a lot of aircraft tanks have forward facing vents 🙂

I'd love to see a camera angle of your footwork on takeoffs and landings. I expect to have mine flying by this coming summer. I'm building mine as a part 103 ultralight. Beautiful job, and happy flying

I was for 37 years mechanic and for 40 pilot also, I have to stop my business for health reasons, I would to like also to make a minimax but I could not do it anymore, I am coming also a little bit older and I know I should be not able to finished and fly, but in any case I wish you al the best and many flying ours on your very nice airplane, greetings from Remi, Belgium @@DTMinimax

Hey Michael, I’m at 12 hours and left the airport area for the first time on the last flight. It was personal preference to spend those first 10 hours over the airport. The next phase is stalls. I sent my prop back to Performance about 3 weeks ago and should have it back in a week or so. It needed to be adjusted to get to 3200 static RPM. After 10 hours it was still 2950. They reduced the diameter a little and flattened it some. I’m excited to see how it performs when I get it back. There was nothing uncomfortable about any of the flight envelope so far, I’m just sitting behind the power curve. Nothing wrong with 400fpm climb and 55 cruise when you have 7000’ of runway. It still takes off in roughly 400’. It will be fun to share the changes with everyone. I did pick the perfect weather window to send the prop in as it really hasn’t been good flying weather the last few weeks.

Great video... perfect weather, but getting a bit cold. I appreciate the skul cap ! I'm sure you will eventually put a canopy on the plane... This morning (24 Nov) the group here at L00 flew out to Tehachapi for breakfast... You should come with us either flying the Max of just jump in along with us, you're always welcome ! We leave at 07:30 Fridays or Saturdays depending on preference among us. Let me know... Ron

Out of curiosity, what callsign would you use for a ultralight when communicating with the tower

I would use something like “Blue and White Ultralight” or however your plane is best described

I'm assuming you already have a setup in mind for cockpit audio? I just bought a cable on Amazon that plugs into my headset jacks and my phone. Every word is recorded to my phone and I can easily drop it in my video editor. You just have to remember to make a loud quick sound at the beginning and then it takes two seconds to sync the video and audio in edit. Good luck!

Since I don’t have an intercom, Pilot Communications USA is going to send me their small portable intercom to test out. Looking forward to being able to just talk and not have to do voice over. I’m using their open cockpit mic which is amazing!
