So to add some more text, yes, I freaking love the Minirigs and use them for monitoring audio, listening, podcasts, etc. They're pretty damned expensive though and the problems are a bit annoying (cables suck, Bluetooth problems, etc).
On the other hand the audio is just so pleasant and high-quality and incredibly loud that they're practically unreplaceable for me, until some other company comes along and makes a worthy competitor.
The Minirig Subwoofer is really what seals the deal because that bass extension is so crucial for enjoyable listening.
Hope you liked the Minirig 3 review - any questions or comments leave them down below!

Great vid. I just got a 2.1 system to pair with my bandmates to use as a super portable PA for impromptu live performances. Game changer. Love everything about it.

What's your opinion on using the Minirigs as a portable studio monitor for music production? Alan Ross tested them pretty flat sounding which sounds kinda promising for that use case. I'm currently thinking about buying 2 Minirig Mini 3 and a Sub for my use case. I already own some nice studio monitors and Headphones and that would round up my setup I think. :)
@JamesFromCanada
@JamesFromCanada 2 жыл бұрын
yeah I think they're excellent for it considering the other options available on the market. It misses a bit of definition on the high end but maybe the Mini and sub would be a better pairing for frequency response accuracy!

i have a question :o in the comparison with the ROKIT 5, did you use the minirik and the studio monitors also like on a desktop setup facing the drivers to you of the minirig? because the studio monitors are near field speakers and sound best when in a desktop like setup. and what do you think about the treble of the minirigs? i know that spending more money on hifi can result in eargasm, would love small speakers sound as clear and good as large opponents :D
@JamesFromCanada
@JamesFromCanada Жыл бұрын
Yep you can use them as nearfield or midfield. I use them as you would studio monitors when at the desk and then in the living room I put them at the very top corners of the room and they project sound very nicely! The Minis have better treble and upper mids, though with some EQ tweaking I found a bit more sparkle from the Minirig 3. The subwoofer is necessary IMO :) For me, the Minirig 3s and sub have basically quenched my HiFi thirst - I've had no desire to get any other audio gear ever since (except big PA speakers for loud outdoor raves)

Hay man thanks for the review! I'm trying to get an untra portable setup sorted for my travels... I mix on a little controller, was wondering is there any latency when using the RCA'S? my last Bose portable had a lag even using the aux, which made cueing/mixing a pain in the ass! Are these latency free with the cables? Any advice would be much appreciated 🙏 cheers

how does it compares with the iloud micro ( only sound wise )
@JamesFromCanada
@JamesFromCanada 2 жыл бұрын
glad you asked! the iLoud Micros are really great and small and have great mid/high end extension but clearly lose out on bass and even maximum output compared to the Minirig 3. With EQ the MR3 can get those trebles and mids balanced out but the decay/timbre/crispness of the iLoud is superior, but overall I prefer the sound signature of the Minirigs

I never get tired of seeing you saying you hosted some "illegal raves" and then proceed to show some footage of it lmao. 🤣 Btw, when you compared to the KRK's, was it a 2.1 or 2.2 set up? Also, I'm curious if you have any recommendations for wireless iem's?

i have two 3rd minirigs and one 2nd minirig, also 1 sub. all of them rattle. harder to notice it when i listen to them normally, but if i turn them around and put closer to my ears i can hear rattling. So i dont recommend listening heavy bass music on loud volumes... Yeah also bt connectivity is so annoying, sometimes i literally spend half hour just to get them to connect to each other. Bags, and all original cables are very bad quality. The rest is fine, nice battery life and very loud sound. Also they had update recently, now even more bass.
@JamesFromCanada
@JamesFromCanada 2 жыл бұрын
They shouldn't rattle at all. Is the rubber feet attached properly on the bottom? If it's not that or it's the cases not ratting, you should probably exchange them or return them - they shouldn't do that! From the 8 different Minirigs I've had, none of them rattle (except the cases zippers do when playing loud enough bass!) I found with BT that if I give them a reset and keep the same pairing pattern (Purple to phone, green & purple linked) and just repeat that, their connection is very solid. With my laptop it works too, until I connect my mouse..
@slakatvaver8797
@slakatvaver8797 2 жыл бұрын
@@JamesFromCanada i mean its almost impossible to notice the rattle if you listen to them normally. But try to put some bassy music, and put the back of minirig closer to you ear and you might hear some rattling. My friend also has 3 minirigs, all of them rattle too, but u can hear it only when you put the back of it close to ear (not the speaker side) P.S. And i have noticed that if there are no other bt devices around then it connects ok. as soon as there is some bt device thats turned on close to minirigs they dont want to connect with each other.

I'm keen to try them but them listing 0 technical specs on the website has me doubtful they can compete with the rigs I might grab a full 2.1 set and give them a whirl. USB-C is a nice improvement but the sub seems a bit small

There great in mono as one MINIRIG with sub but not not waste your money with hopes of stereo the app is brutal their manual needs clarity I will say they do respond but thus far after multiple emails still same bull💩 most frustrating thing ever You want stereo these are not the answer go look elsewhere!!!!
@scotarg1973
@scotarg1973 Жыл бұрын
Any probs I've had pairing in stereo, I've managed to sort out. Essentially, i usually just use the buttons to pair and not the app. If I want to get a bit more distance between the speakers I just change the codec to SBC to stop dropouts. Also, I try not place speakers near strong WiFi signals which might interfere. You can stereo pair with cables too (still connecting to one speaker via Bluetooth).
