Minitruck Subwoofer Box Build! Shallow Mount Subs in a Bagged and Bodydropped Truck on Air Bags.

Today, it's time for the subwoofer box build for my bagged and bodydropped minitruck. It's getting shallow mount subs in a wedge sub box, to fit behind the seats in my minitruck on air bags!
Car Audio Fabrication came through with the suggestion for the JL Audio shallow mount JL 12TW3-D4s.

Back in the day in my Mighty Max, I had a pair of kicker 8s behind the seat in separate boxes. They sounded great in the truck, but not much else. Subwoofer tech is light years beyond what it was back then. Today's 10s sound like the 15s of the 80s-90s. Love what youre doing. Certainly brings back memories.

Man this thing is gonna liquify your innards. When I was a teenager I cut the back off a lazyboy and put a 12 in it for fun. This will probably feel about the same! Nice work, pal. P.S. I need me a boogie shirt!

I sure hope so. It's been a while since I had a good innard beating. I had a buddy with two tens in a Mazda and it slapped surprisingly hard.

Love it. My son and I wrapped our box ever yesterday for behind the rear bucket in my dually. We used metra black carpet and made inset beauty endpanels which I rattlecanned a turquoise green accent repeatedly and repeatedly till smooth… so the box matches both my black carpet and the Idq12 it holds. And celebrated with a little BassMekanik. If I can make one suggestion, please install a center divider so it isn’t a common chamber. That way if one ever were to fail, it doesn’t take the other with it due to no suspension dampening.

Takes me back to the days of stuffing speakers behind the seat, back in the 90s JL 10w6 subs, JL mids and tweets, punch amp for the subs and a alpine amp for the mids and tweets, audio control cross over and a alpine deck, only thing I still have is the deck and it’s going back in the truck I bought it for, the one I’m doing the z rack on

Ah man, I saw the Z rack video! Can't wait to watch it. I've wanted to do an air dancing bed but I've got too much to do right now. I love the old school equipment but it's tough to argue with the new stuff. So cheap and SO much power.

That's good to hear, it's going to be a few weeks before I get to hear them! Hoping I didn't kill the box volume by sinking them in the extra half inch. Stay tuned, we'll find out!

Dope truck bro, period correct hammers are 🔥. Personally my first time seeing a bed on air rather than juice. I see you went MDF for the box, not birch. Turned out great, nice job! I remember just plywood in the late 80s early 90s lol. Saw a guy in '91 that had one 15" in the back seat of a 75 Monte and the box was made of thick cheap wood/laminate countertop which was strange, but worked.

I knew car audio nerd was gonna recommend JL audio he must either work for them or sponsored by them. Thats all he ever uses. I cant wait to hear what the box sounds like. Being a over 40 bass head I have a badass system in my Tahoe and im building one for the minitrucks I have my hardbody, my S10 and the Datsun 620 haha. You going to mini Nats this weekend? Man I love this build! Your work is great! Are those the stock seats? My 89 I just picked up has a bench seat that sucks. Looking to get some buckets very soon.

Well, thank you. They're 1987 or so 4runner seats. I snapped them up, when I got the Toyota rear end. They are amazingly close to bolting up and match the blue interior pretty close.
