I’ve been to tons of metal concerts, where people are labeled as dangerous all the time, and we have an unwritten rule of moshing. “You see a man/woman go down get them back up; if it’s bad tell the band.” Every time I’ve been at a metal concert where people were getting hurt or robbed or groped, the band stopped the concert until it was taken care of. They wouldn’t just ignore their fans.

I went to a tool concert that got out of control, and the lead singer immediately stopped the show and chewed us out... then said they'd leave if the crowd wouldn't calm down. The crowd continued acting crazy, so they actually shut the concert down and left. Tool has more respect for humanity than Travis Scott... I'm a little surprised by that! All Travis had to do was say, STOP or I'm gonna stop and they all would have obeyed.

I don't get how or why that cameraman didn't do something. He's a backstage person, almost certainly had his phone on him, would have had a contact to SOMEONE backstage, who could call someone until they reached someone who could shut this down. Even if Travis Scott couldn't hear the crowd and was foolish enough to continue with both an ambulance and someone being carried out on a stretcher, there was GROSS negligence happening backstage. SOMEONE had access to be able to just walk on stage and tell Travis to shut it down, if not send him a message via his earpiece thing. There are many many security people being notified later on, the POLICE knew 45mins before this ended FFS! How no one marched in there and shut it down is beyond me. We live in a "not my problem" culture.

The camera operators for the Apple Music livestream absolutely had the power to stop the show. They're the ones most directly responsible for this. They were in the crowd, they saw what was happening, and refused to do anything.

Today, there is absolutely NOTHING in hip-hop that benefits any society that claims to love their youth (pants hanging off the butt, drug culture, prostitution etc). Rap is EVOLVING (or has Evolved) into the DESTRUCTION of America's youth. The lyrics combined with the demonology, WHY ARE WE SURPRISED THAT SOME PEOPLE DIED and some 300 or more got injured??? @@hassanmuhammad2799 this isn’t a hip hop issue, you can go to hip hop concerts and come back alive. If anything this is FESTIVAL CULTURE. Barely being given anything to eat, drink or appropriate bathrooms and people are outside all day. Travis encouraging his fans to push their way to the front of the stage is also a Travis thing, not a hip hop thing. Don’t point your blame to hip hop. Travis doesn’t represent hip hop culture. This is a problem with going to festivals and security, the artist, and the festival agency not doing its job.

Long before Travis’s set began, the people in charge of the festival were well aware that the security gates were stormed beyond capacity by a literal stampede-a serious safety hazard that Travis himself has a pattern of encouraging in previous concerts. Of course Travis didn’t expect a fatal breakdown in crowd safety would ever happen, because crowd safety isn’t something he cares to think about. There’s plenty of blame to go around between the festival organizers, concert directors, and even Houston Police leadership. But the ones most responsible for letting this happen in the first place were the performer and the festival owner…oh wait, Travis Scott was both..

In the early 90's, the same thing happened to me on a much smaller scale at a smaller venue. I was on crutches as I'm disabled. I was knocked off my crutches as those in the back surged toward the stage. My friend didn't know I was on the ground. People began tripping over me and stepping on me. Every time I attempted to get up, I was knocked down again. The only that saved my life, was that I grabbed the leg of a security guard hired for the venue. This feels worse than drowning. You're being slowly suffocated to death, (asphyxiation.) I've recently been diagnosed with PTSD. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

Reminder for anyone in a tight location that their chest may be compressed: NEVER EVER EVER REMOVE YOUR ARMS FROM YOUR RIBCAGE. Your arms and shoulders kind of protect you from getting crushed and raising your hands removes that protection. I was on a carnival ride recently and my teenage daughter was on it with me the ride was so fast that her body was pushing into mine. I was ok until I wanted to raise my arms and she slid into my ribcage and I couldn't breathe almost passing out trying to move her off of my ribs which I couldn't. Next rides was even faster but when she slid into me with my arms down I still could breathe and protect my lungs with my arms. I bet the people that was screaming for help was the ones with their ribcage exposed cause their arms are stuck up.
