I never de-greased mine when new and I used blue loctite. Never had a problem with them coming apart. Just let them sit for a few hours before you run em. The only problem I've noticed with them is when you tighten on the wheels it squeezed the rear carrier (with spacers installed) causing a slight binding problem. However I've figured out if you put two Teflon washers in where the middle spacer goes it helps to get rid on the binding, not 100% but pretty close. The washers are 5x8x0.5, the same ones that go before the cross pin on the stock plastic axle.

I have MIPs on my 4s rustler and I didn't degrease them first and only used blue lock-tite and they didn't fall apart at all and trust me I gave them a beating and they held up great so I know for a fact you're safe with them! Keep up the great work kev!

Put some heatsrink around the cvd joint. If they do come apart it will help keep you from losing the pin.

Extra weight wont be a bad thing on that, i think it will improve things a tiny bit and be more durable. RCs that are too light are prone to flipping, turning over easily, especially with too much power going through them

I hated MIP’s on my rustler, they are heavy, and they feel loose and rattle about. Also they don’t work with bushings, so I had to buy bearings on top of the $90 price. I ended up buying $20 integy shafts and I love them

I wouldn't Have left the pieces that go in the cvds dry... They'll wear out sooo much faster. Haven't had a problem with dirt wearing those out yet.
@j3rockon482
@j3rockon482 6 жыл бұрын
Just a heads up, you don't want to leave them dry because they will rust like crazy and will emit a horrible grinding noise. I thought the same to leave them dry, but it is better to just grease them, especially in the splines.
@NerfCraft
@NerfCraft 6 жыл бұрын
I agree, the grease is there for a reason. Metal on metal friction is VERY bad. Although i don't know if you need them on the splines. I have a set of these on my Rustler, didn't put grease on the splines, and it seems fine. the splines don't move a whole lot either so it shouldn't be a big deal if those are dry. Either way there definitely needs to be grease in the joints.
@j3rockon482
@j3rockon482 6 жыл бұрын
NerfCraft For sure, I have these on a slash 4x4 and because I didn't grease the splines, I got water in them and then the car sat for a week. During that week rust accumulated and actually seized the two parts together. Probably don't have to go super heavy, just enough to cover them.
@NerfCraft
@NerfCraft 6 жыл бұрын
Oh weird, never heard of greasing the splines. Might have to keep an eye out. Thanks for the tip. I guess if you get them wet you should be maintaining them anyway so they don't rust, but yeah I will have to keep an eye out for that.
@callumwatson459
@callumwatson459 6 жыл бұрын
J3rockon or just dry them if they get wet
@NerfCraft
@NerfCraft 6 жыл бұрын
Eh, yeah but it would still be better to just grease them properly. Actually just went running my Rustler in some dirt. More of it is actually caught by the differential output next to the tranny box than in the joint on the Driveshafts. Think it's safe to grease it. And really you should be taking them apart to maintain them now and again anyway, because they can get dirty. You do not want to leave them without any maintenance all the time.
