Nos Lee they're quite cool, and quite different to huskies. They have a tendency to bark a lot but they're very pretty.

Generally, we don't brush our samoyeds out unless they are about to be bathed, or are blowing coat like Mira is in the video. What we do recommend is a heavy rake (style of comb) to help pull the undercoat loose, and a large high velocity dryer. Sometimes we will use a slicker (fine pin brush) to help pull out surface tangles and dirt. A greyhound (brand) of comb is our favorite when at the show.

@@ArticcrossKennels 1st time Sammie owner here: he is now 1 year 4 months. I was using a slicker brush almost daily, or every 2nd day. Recently got a Chris Christensen Ice Slip brush, which I've been using. I *thought* I was doing ok in line brushing. Each time, got out a lot of fur. But went to the groomer yesterday (only 2nd time he's been at a groomer). She told me his fur was very packed in everywhere! :( Now, she suggested I get a blower (I can't afford the K9 II: it goes for $1,326 on Amazon). And then line brush with a greyhound comb. I do have a 2-sided dematting rake (the type that has curved tines) and use the wider side sometimes, but she said that will cut his fur and not to use it. I also have a dematting comb, but only use it when there is an obvious mat I can't get through, say around his ears. So, I am confused by the different advice, and disheartened that his fur is so packed in, despite my constant efforts. So, after using the dryer, do you use the heavy rake? And is this the same as a dematting rake? What does it look like? At what point do you use the slicker brush? Only after the dematting rake? It is so confusing!
