WE SPENT A FEW DAYS IN CAACUPE, Paraguay. A beautiful town where miracles happen.
The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Caacupé. Caacupé is best known as the site of the Virgin of Caacupé, Saint Patron of Paraguay. The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Miracles, Caacupé stands in the centre of the town. At night it lights up the centre of the city like a beacon.
Legend has it that in the 1600’s Franciscan Missionaries commissioned a local man, Jose, to carve a statue of the Virgin Mary. While searching for Yerba Mate tree Jose encountered a hostile tribe of Mbayae warriors. Fearing for his life, he knew that the Mbayae were against Christianity. Jose hid in the trunk of a tree and prayed. The story goes that the Virgin Mary descended and comforted Jose and promised to protect him. In response, Jose promised he would carve two images of the Virgin.
Tapaicuá Lake flooded in 1603, and Jose’s house was swept away. After much praying, the flooding subsided and the statue was found floating in the lake. Today this statue is located in the nearby town of Tobati.
Of course the Spanish influence is everywhere in Caacupe. The streets are clean, and the buildings are interesting.
Caacupe is definately a great destination. Because of its popularity Caacupe is an incredibly well-equipped town considering its population. It has a theatre, lots of amazing restaurants, cafes and shops.

I have lived in Argentina for a 1,5 year in the past and i'm interested in Paraguay, however if I see those busrides, i clearly remember how much i disliked jampacked busrides and also sometimes unsure if they would stop at the correct place, but this was in buenos aires. I think it would be nice to live there especially with likeminded people, however as a solo mom it is a big hurdle to think of moving all the way over there again. And i really never got used to the broken streets and certain cultural differences. Its a hard thing to decide, even though i absolutely love the climate and nature over in those regions!

We haven't been to Argentina so we can only guess what the buses are like there. In Paraguay, even though the buses can be packed the people are very nice about it. Unlike Guatemala, where the bus people treated people like cattle. All big decisions, I understand your hesitation. Hopefully we can make more vids that will give you better insights so that you can make the best decisions.

@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguay I'm pretty sure the buses in Argentina are better as in Guatemala, however since i was in buenos aires its a big city with a lot of people so was still jam packed every morning! And yes thank you for the videos, it does give a better insight and I'd probably find it a lot easier to decide if it weren't for finances. It's quite the expensive trip to just even go there and pay for two persons and then also have to find a way to generate income for the future while caring for my child alone. And then there's the whole other aspect of thinking about my childs future so yes, a lot of questions to be answered. Thing is, I have to decide where to stay in case that it would be permanent and it's not an easy task. I'd probably go traveling to just check places out if I could haha. Anyway, thanks for the channel it does help

Yes - we applied for our residency last Friday! We will be posting a blog about our experience in the next few days. You initially apply for a 2 year temp residency that you renew to a 10 year permanent residency. Radu helped us with our residency application, he was fantastic. Check out his YT channel, A BETTER LIFE, www.youtube.com/@RaduProksch - he has heaps of information on the requirements & process and his life in Paraguay 😃

Very safe. Much safer than anywhere else we've lived. Like anywhere though, you've got to be careful.
