People later ascribed (made up) miracles for him more than 1 century after his death bc they thought it was weird and they were trying to convert Jews and Christians and they asked what were his miracle. When Muhammad was asked to preform a miracle he refused and told them to read a chapter in the Quran. (See Sura 2:118; 3:181-84; 4:153; 6:8,9,37). If he was able to preform miracles he would have preformed them when asked. But he couldn’t.
