I love songs like this, they tell a great story, but use clever innuendo to make a point... love love love it... I'm pretty sure her song, "The House That Built Me" makes reference to her ol' man being a walloper...I also read somewhere that both of her olds were involved in some kinda underground railroad for DV survivors, though not sure if that's correct or not... either way, in my book, any bloke that puts hands on his Mrs (ring or not) and/or sprogs, well... let's just say he deserves what's comin'... watching the ol' boy flog the piss and pickhandles outta the ol' girl when he got a skin full, sorta made me a bit of a "Caring, Understanding, Nineties Type" when it comes to handy pissheads, if ya get m'drift...busted a ballsack, broke a nose (and left claw marks in the back of a pair of ears) with the same knee one night at a nightclub back in the early 80s... his limp lasted longer... ;} probs explains why I never married and they're exes...yeah,nah, I could definitely pick 'em mate... ;))
