I totally agree, and think this is an outstanding idea. Let's challenge our principals, superintendents and school boards across America to play this tape at public assemblies in schools everywhere. This would dissolve in one sitting the contagion of transgenderism and demands for "gender-affirming care" sweeping the country. The appropriate care for confused, distressed, anxious young people is gentle counseling for as long as it may take, nor powerful drugs and surgery to "correct" healthy bodies.

Yep, same as me. Was happiest when wearing my Dad's clothes. Have read what gender dysphoria is and this was me to a tee from as early as I can remember. Same, Im totally happy with myself now, am in my 40s, learned to accept my body during puberty, Ive heard some people turn out gay but I'm hetrosexual. Never had any confusion about sexual orientation, just I felt like a boy. Very important to ask child about- stress and any MH conditions, though a lot of kids will experience significant stress at some stages eg moving, changing friendships. Think I may have had some stress. Also very important to ask about ALL relationships of child and whether parents and relatives wanted a boy or girl when child was born. Child learns who they are from parents. Trauma literature explains this. Eg if told they are stupid they will internalise as part of themselves. If parent wanted them to be the other gender then they can believe they should have been the other gender. Subconsciously they can have strong desire to be other gender and internalise this as their identity. They can have feeling of being closer to parent when behaving as the other gender. The desire for attachment to a parent is so strong. If you read how identity is formed it's very interesting. Our identity is formed by our environment and that's why trauma is powerful and usually invisible. Kids dont need to be told by a parent that they wanted a child of the other gender, kids are far more intuitive and will know this themselves. Or it may be a grandparent that the child wants to feel closer to, or someone else in the family if they don't feel close to their parents. It could have to do with an absent parent also and wanting to feel closer to them. Or perhaps it could have to do with friendships in some cases. Our need for attachment is very human and our brains are very good at a very young age at figuring out how to get the connection we need. We get the messages about who we are from our parents firstly before we then start to come up with independent ideas of who we are. Social transition for kids will be problematic for this same reason, I think they will tend towards whatever gender brings them a social circle, and if they risk losing out socially by de-transitioning this will be huge obstacle and deterrent for their friendships and MH and rightly so

(i was born in the 50’s so I’m ancient), I did everything boys do and still do.. fix cars.. do the plumbing electrical work around the house etc.. HATE WEARING DRESSES.. and don’t.. but I am tall, slim and apparently very attractive and look FEMININE.. which I don’t care about.. during menopause for the first time my hormones were checked and the specialist called me to come in immediately where I found out my testosterone was 10 times higher than a teenage boys.. and they were worried I had an underlying serious medical issue.. so after multiple tests and checks they discovered my testosterone was NORMAL FOR ME because at the end of the day I had zero negative effects of such high testosterone AND I TOLD THEM EVEN BEFORE ANY TESTS, that they will discover it’s NORMAL FOR ME because I always knew I’m not a typical female.. AND MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN I TOLD THEM BECAUSE THEY ALL KNEW.. and the jokes followed of course.. If I was born today I would be the poster child of a TRANS KID.. when very young I would watch my father and brothers pee and was absolutely fascinated by penis’s and WANTED ONE BECAUSE THEY SEEMED SO MUCH MORE PRACTICAL and my equipment was so messy and ridiculous and not as handy.. 😂 I lived my life as ME.. undefined and unusual.. @@apebass2215 yeah, I tried all that before my divorce, but it's really difficult to be firm, or implement any sensible restrictions, if your spouse isn't pulling on the same string and undermines every effort along the way (even if she agrees with me on the issue). It's a moot point now anyways, as I have no leverage there as she's not living in my house anymore. The "hope" we're having right now has come down to having some other relatives talk to her over the summer, before she goes to college. So she can see that college can mean a new start, so she at least doesn't have to deal with facing people around here while doing that 180. Overall it just sucks.. I really appreciate your understanding and comment 🙂

CynicalWilson, I don't have all the answers, but I can not even imagine the living nightmare that has got to be. If it were me, I would try to throw her a bone and let her know that I'm fine with her being a tomboy, I'm fine with her being a little different - but she deserves way more than self-mutilation and hormones. Others have tried such things and have deeply regretted it. You're probably way ahead of me on this but this is just my opinion. I hope you and your daughter are doing okay.

But by being associated with Republicans/conservatives (whether intentionally or not), she is also associating herself with the hypocrisy, dishonesty, and complete disregard of principles and ethics so blatantly displayed by the Trump-dominated right. I’m convinced that there are many moderates like me who would pay serious attention to her if she would make an intentional effort to reach out to them.

yup she has all the facts we need and the only thing I would object to is her claim that we nee to do more "research" to get higher quality evidence. Research is something that we must approach with due caution. there is research out there that ostensibly supports the gender affirming care model. which is terrible research. but I like use an example: imagine you set about to research biological differences between men and women. you want to research whether or not men have prostates. idk. so you take 50 men and you take 50 women. none of the women have a prostate, but in your sample you get one man who has his prostate removed. so, that men have prostates and women don't is well established. not in question. but now you have clinical research statistically speaking to show that not all men have prostates. you took something that was true beyond any reasonable doubt and you conducted research that was completely unnecessary, but because of sheer odds or poor experimental design you have results that somehow manage to call into question this other wise undisputed fact. you could also research if aerobic exercise improves cardiac output and you have 50 people who run and then 50 control and it just so happens that in the test group one of the subjects has a heart attack and dies, and then all of a sudden now you have research that shows exercise may not improve cardiac output. idk these are crude examples it more or less shows the perils of redundant or unnecessary research.
