We install the Mishimoto OIl Cooler Kit on our 2015 WRX. Very Simple installation and excellent quality!
Mishimoto Product Description:
High oil temperatures can wreak havoc on your high-performance FA20 DIT. Protect your investment with the Mishimoto direct-fit oil cooler kit designed specifically for the 2015+ Subaru WRX. The WRX has tons to offer with its turbocharged engine and fantastic AWD system, but the stock liquid-to-liquid oil cooler cannot handle prolonged aggressive driving conditions. This kit is designed to work in conjunction with the stock liquid-to-liquid to maintain optimal oil temperature. Properly regulated oil temperatures become even more important if you have modified your vehicle or spend time tracking your WRX. Mishimoto's direct-fit oil cooler is engineered to reduce oil temperatures and extend the life of your engine. For optimal airflow and cooling, this kit includes a large 19-row cooler that is mounted in the front bumper with robust application-specific brackets. The included application-specific CNC-machined aluminum sandwich plate has been designed to allow proper clearance of the stock oil filter. This kit includes preassembled stainless steel lines with -10AN fittings to help direct the oil to and from the cooler. With this setup, your WRX can achieve a +25°F (+13.9°C) drop in oil temperatures with minimal pressure loss. The Mishimoto Subaru WRX Oil Cooler Kit is available with either a Sleek Silver or Stealth Black oil cooler. As with all our 2015 WRX parts, this kit includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty

If I have the fmic installed this will not work on the original instalation place right?

Correct, you would most likely have to do a custom mount to get this installed. However that should not be too difficult to be honest. Thanks, Rick

what does he mean by if you have a bone stock WRX you can still do this "it won't be the end of the world" ??

Meaning it won't be a big deal either way. Now if you track your stock WRX, I would highly recommend a proper oil cooler, but if you just daily drive the car, it won't hurt but I doubt you will see any real benefit from the cooler. Thanks, Rick

I'm not saying all Mishimoto oil coolers are bad but there are a couple people who have reported that there was a leakage from the sandwich plate on 15/16 WRX, and installation was done by prestigious tuning shops. One person was regretting that he should have bought the Perrin oil cooler which had zero reported of that incident. So....out of hundreds Mishimoto oil coolers, there may be some defected ones. Once the leakage happens, it's not a pretty site.

Does the kit require you to put additional oil in the car, due to the additional volume?

+Daniel Smith Yes, it is roughly about an extra quart of oil, but you will want to double check once installed to make sure the oil levels are okay. Thanks, Rick

@@rallysportdirect one more question how does the thermostatic differ from the non thermostatic? Which one is better

@@Floatworld thermostatic is better. Opens up at certain temp. Usually 185 but you can get 165 and 200 degree ones. Way better. If non thermostatic then it will take a very long time to heat up your engine. Turbos do not operate well at cold engine temps.
