Oh come on, there is spot on.. then there is the other end of the scale... this sadly is that other end. Utter Farb-tastic nonsense! If he didn't claim it to be authentic all the time, I'd say 'crack on and have fun', but to tell people this authentic is just a load of BS and puts re-enactors and living historians who make the effort to do it authentically to shame. Go have fun, have no standards, wear crap kit, have no unit, do no research into TO&E's, roles, unit specifics etc... but just admit that you just want to run about and pretend to play soldiers, this is one step up from running about the playground shouting "bang bang; you're dead, I shot you" at each other. So lets not pretend it's anything different. I will look out for these better 'reenactments' videos and give them a viewing at your guidance.

Are you his agent or something? We had a jeep on our display at Victory, no fancily paint pretty super neat unit markings, didn't have 25 guns mounted to every bit of available space, didn't have coca-cola bottle openers bolted to it, didn't even have 400 post war musette bags dangling off it either... it was covered inside and out of mud, grime, grease, dirt. Amazing to see a ww2 jeep looking like that. Unlike these pristine museum pieces which are just total unrealistic.

Thank you for making this, as I've seen several farb things, people say are "Historically accurate" but in reality they're not and it kind of sets a false expectation. (For example the Fury movie hair cut that went around the GI side for a minute) And the only time I break character is when I either run out of water and need to use my farb water bottle. Or if some new kid looks like he needs help at all But some others don't get it and I've seen several people cheap out on stuff and force the Germans on their knees and all that nonsense. And like I said it sets a false expectation at times sadly But overall man thanks for the video

I'm glad someone else understands. Most comments on here are just made by those trying to protect their beloved you-tube heros and ignoring the fact he is as farby as farby can be. We all have to break character from time to time, however I am fairly certain when you have to use your modern waterbottle you don't wave it about and go about calling it 'authentic' or 'period correct'... that's the big difference. I get my SLR camera out from time to time to snap photos of the group and you can guarantee that when ever I do some member of the public almost gets it in one of thier photos! I have to try and use it and keep it hidden both at the same time...

“Talking a lot, saying nothing”? Come on dude this video is from their POV of a re-enactment. I don’t think it’s a good idea to hammer them for not saying much about the battle they are taking place in, they have enough on there plate probably spending thousands of dollars on travel, and impressions. But saying their impression is bad because of a white undershirt is going a little far.
@dangermouse69div
@dangermouse69div Жыл бұрын
You're correct, it does cost thousands to put together an impression and so paying attention to stupid little things that would let the whole thing down like a white T-Shirt is pretty unforgiveable really. Attention to detail costs nothing, except for caring about what you are doing. You can say "historically accurate" as many as times as you want... it still doesn't make it true. The guys videos on relic hunting are great, but this... wow!

People don't understand that a reenactment can never be perfect. It is not real, just a tool to teach people about history and have fun. Real combat is not fun. Reenactments are not supposed to be movies.
@dangermouse69div
@dangermouse69div 3 ай бұрын
this won't teach people anything at all... Your comment about real combat not being fun is as obvious as saying clouds are white... thanks for that. Re-enactments are supports to re-enact something... I'll break this down for you. This means to replicate something that happened in history and by units that existed. He doesn't have a clue what unit he is from, just dressed up in anything cheap and esay to aquire. Modern vehicles are parked everywhere in the background instead of being park away our of sight in a car park, guys half in tanks wearing modern tshirts with huge logos over them... I don't remember seeing any battle in any history book that looked anything like this. In fact you are correct about one thing... it'll teach people what not to do

Those are perfect for this sort of thing. Where authenticity plays no part in what is being done. Each to their own, I never got the whole running around firing blanks at each other and sulking when the other side doesn't take their 'hits'. Ok man, you make no sence, white tshirts were seen, no not as common as the A top was but white t shirts where seen and were private purchases, and him wearing no wools inder his HBTs, yeah thats normal, you could find many GIs, with just their hbts, oh and the helmet net you thought was "pure string" well oh wow a helmet net made out of string and guess what, the net is likley original because they dont make reproductions of these nets, thet are called m44 nets, and where seen a whole lot among soldiers in ww2, and the garrison caps that you said looked wierd, well guess what!, Those where seen often too bud, and actually soldiers preferred the taller, sharper look of them, they are PX made garrison caps, from the PX store, hopefully you know what that is, plus the guy getting shot is for thier own immersion, of the reenactment and guess what, im pretty sure it makes it more accurate lf a reenactment, isn't that what you wanted?, Plus you can tell where somthing is coming from without pinning down exactly where it is in that direction, common sence with that one bud, so how about please do more of your own research before making these videos, more research before you says somthing, have a great day

OK man, you make no sence. That entire reply you posted was done within one sentance! Your lack of detail with punctuation, is about the same as the attention to detail that went into some of thos impressions. Oh bless.... white T-shirt are regarded as one of the biggest farb items in the hobby, closely followed by shoulder holsters, M1911s, sunglasses and other such over done items, therefore anyone with any ounce of sense and wanted to be taken seriously in this hobby would avoid these. You can get reproduction helmet nets of all type if you know where to buy things from, its better to not wear an item, than to wear something wrong or one that looks like crap. I love your attemp at insults by suggesting I don't know what a PX is. The whole pretending to be shot, is nothing more than rolling about in the playground at school playing 'army' shouting bang bang it each other. This isn't a re-enactment, it's playing soldiers. They arn't re-enacting anything. There are no specific units, no specific place, no specific event. So ask yourself, what is it they are re-enacting exactly?

@dangermouse69div I do understand what you mean, and it does make sense, I was just trying to say the netting is acceptable and was used pretty often, and that white t shirts even though yes they are not perfect, they were used and were actually issued in the beginning of the war and where either left white or died with tea and or coffee, and naw you can't get repro shrimp netting. also I do apologize for the lack of punctuation and stuff, I have dyslexia and so spelling and punctuation and so on is kinda difficult sometimes, but I do appreciate the reply I do agree with the other stuff to not do because they are farby and overdone haha

Apologies for being at twat over dyslexia, although I've never been diagnosied (I'm too old) I'm fairly certain I have it to some degree as well. M1 Helmet Cover - Shrimp Net - Original WWII - J Murray does a version of the shrimp netting type. I do have to ask though, is the shrimp netting specific to any group of units, ei was it used by XYZ unit during certain time periods more than others? I know its not a 101st Normandy thing, who actually used them is beyond me. They are still ugly as shit though ;)

@@dangermouse69div @dangermouse69div naww man it's alright, dyslexia is tough, im sure you know but hey at least a long the way we people come up with tricks sometimes to work with it haha Yep!, J Murray has a great assortment of netting, but remember the shrimp netting is cut from original netting from WW2!, So the netting is still original netting So basically with the shrimp net it was fairly common a little after d day, honestly probably late fall of 44. and this is because the netting was actually meant to be over vehicles to camouflage them!, Though the holes where to close together and did nothing but make them stick out like a sore thumb, so they started cutting them up and the started actually be issued with a black rubber band! (They were also giving to British and Canadian troops), It's not really an airborne thing (to my knowledge), I do 2nd id 9th regiment so personally I could not speak for that one, and so I've never really had shrimp netting myself, cause I haven't really seen the 2nd id with it too often, but I do know that the 3 id was VERY common with the shrimp netting (though they had a little bit of a different variation of the shrimp netting it was a little bit bulkier), 1st id was common with it, the 29th id, and well honestly they were common among most troops along with the Normandy style netting, so nope definitely no shrimp netting with any troops on dday!

"As long as its hot there's an excuse not to wear what you're supposed to wear?" Bru... Do you know anything about reenacting?! If you run around in wool uniforms on an 80 or 90 degree day you will DIE from heat exaustion! As a reenactor I have seen people be hospitalized from it many times and here you are criticizing reenactors from the comfort of your chair. And you have a problem with nick wearing a white t shirt? All GI's in ww2 wore white t shirts under their uniforms unless they were involved in the d day operations(this is common ww2 knowledge). And you claim the helmet net's incorrect. Thats a british helmet net which was commonly worn by GI's in the field. I'm baffled by your complete lack of basic ww2 knowledge and yet you go after these reenactors.

Ah, another Nick fanboy.... It's a pathetic excuse... simple, do it well or not at all. Do the veterans and units justice or don't do it. If you cannot do ETO and wear the correct uniforms, then do PTO or MTO and wear uniforms that are suited for hotter climates and do that well. Why do something piss poor, look crap, be an embarresment to the hobby, supposed to be ambassadors of history and passing on knowledge of what the real guys went through and instead its "bruh its too hot" and making other feeble excuses when there are alternatives that you can do better. Love they you think I do this hobby from a chair. I was at an event this weekend in blazing heat. M42s CC2ed, wool shirt, helmet, webbing... no babyish excuses. get on with and honour the guys who did it for real. All GI's in ww2 wore white t shirts under their uniforms - wow what a statement and utterly untrue, but a great generalization of total BS. I suggest doing a different hobby if you think not wearing the correct clothes because its hot... maybe take up knitting or something not weather dependant.
