A claim of being a guide to improve your impression. Starts with a paratrooper talking on a mobile phone, while his buddies stand about with cartridge belt on and hash marks on helmets...
Dear Ex Miss Drop 44 members - I take it that ridiculous comment asking me "Erm are you in the army?" is due to the fact I am wearing an old US ARMY t-shirt purchased from an Army surplus shop in the 90s! Available to anyone to purchase, civilians included for a huge £5. No I am not in the army (as you well know), neither have I ever claimed to be and neither do I want to be. Do you ask everyone who wears camouflage if they are in the army as well? You must have great fun when at military shows quizzing everyone. I also have a 'Fanta' t-shirt and I don't claim to work for them either... Get a life.

Depending on the time frame and unit, extra canteens were worn. Some GIs in Italy occasionally had a second canteen. I have also seen a GI in the ETO using a canteen cover as a way to carry grenades.

With the lightweight gas mask bag, a friend of mine who served as a 1st Lt. during WWII with Patton’s Division told me that the gas masks were one of the first items that they discarded. He said that he kept things such as spare hygiene items, rations, candy and books inside the gas mask bag.

Why oh why is the bandolier on BEFORE the webbing?! NO! The bandolier is disposable! It's meant to be discarded and worn over the webbing. As to a shell casing in the bag...well I have questions, many questions.

welcome to the crazy world of re-enacting! I promise I will make more videos, at the moment I am fixing the problem of all the crap patches being sold by all the major re-enacting supply companies around the world, by making decent, authentic looking patches and a huge variest of each of them as well. Not just one version. Find the Patch King on Facebook to see more

He has the right idea but no idea how to present it. He explains stuff halfway haha. The gas mask bag was almost always used (if used in the field at all) for personal items, ditching the near pointless gas mask. He also mentions the haversacks back hooks but fails to go into any detail on it. Most GIs didnt keep their haversacks. If they did they wore it kind of like a backpack connecting the front hooks to the back ones. Obviously some guys would keep their gear to training manual spec but they were the exception. Guys like these really hurt the hobby. Its more of a saving private ryan/the pacific cosplay than any sort of living history.

5:00 that myth is kind of a myth itself. Sure some GI's believed the whole break-your-neck thing but that wasn't every single soldier in the US armed forces. Most of them just thought tthe straps were uncomfortable and quite useless, which is why they kept them off.

@@cctproductions6976 When you seen them hiding behind a hay bail, or a park bench, what battle, what part of history? I've never seen them _re-enact" any particular battle, maybe the big ones like Waterloo or Gettysburg, but usually it's just some random US, British and German and sometimes other nations in a field with the public standing behind a fence viewing the spectacle of grown men running around going "pew pew" with no script, no one really knows what is happening, just some vague battle and usually you get the German surrendering and one usually runs away and get's shot in the back, that's not re-enacting anything ...

@@pauldray2108 there are events based around certain battles. Best example of a WW2 one would be the DDAY Ohio event. Most events based on certain battles are kinda eh. The good ones are private tacticals. Plus you can’t reenact everything 100% as it happened. That’s why you see more skirmish themed events
