It's now been 8-weeks and the former mayor of Cornelius, 76-year-old Ralph Brown is still missing with his care. Ralph has been missing since May 16, suffers from dementia, and has not had his memory or heart medication since he left his Cornelius, Oregon.
His daughter, Laurie Saunders, said during a news conference that she spoke with her father the night he went missing shortly after 9pm and that he wasn’t sure exactly where he was.
He told her he was “literally in the bushes,” and that he might be near a golf course, but couldn’t give her more specific details. He also asked if people were out looking for him.
She told him to wait for a call from his son, who was going to go out and find him, but Brown didn’t answer the phone after that. And nobody has been able to find him, even though hundreds of people out there helping with the search.
This series documents Adventures With Purpose's multi-day search for Ralph.

FOUND: RICHARD RITZ
• SOLVED: Missing 9-Mont...
Brown is 76 years old, about 5-foot-10, with white hair and blue eyes. He's also missing the tip of his index finger.
His car is a dark blue, 2014 Nissan Sentra with Oregon plates.
Anyone who sees him or his car is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-629-0111
There have been a few sightings reported, but none were substantiated, said Daryle Brown, Ralph Brown’s son.
Daryle said his parents were in their home on May 16 when Brown stood up and said he was going to his “other house.”
Ralph has early-onset Alzheimer’s symptoms, which leads to confusion. He no longer has a driver’s license and has not driven a car in more than a year, Daryle said.
He drove away from the home in the 600 block of South 12th Avenue in Cornelius, Oregon.
There have been no location pings on his phone after 10:25pm that evening, and no communication from Brown in the time since he’s been missing.
There have also been no charges to his credit card.
More than 200 volunteers are still helping in the search, including former students, friends, and even strangers.
Hug the ones you love for you never know when it might be the last time you see them.
We are humbled by the opportunity all of you have given us to help in the search for answers as to what happened to Ralph.
The AWP Movement would not be possible without your support, helping us travel the US offering our services for FREE to families searching for their lost loved ones... Thank you!

Don’t underestimate the distance a lost person can drive and where. My uncle, in early dementia, had lived in and around south Baltimore suburbs most of his life. He retired to Roanoke Va. his sister died in Baltimore and he left to go to her funeral and never turned up. Reported missing. He was found a couple days later. He drove past Baltimore exits he had known well, had driven to NY state and gassed up. Then he made it back to another part of Va over a four or five day period. He went into a service station store and didn’t pay. They realized he was very confused so they called the police. His car was scratched up. He had to have driven over a thousand miles totally lost. Just telling this story because it’s to easy to underestimate how far he could have gone. I know, cell phone pongs don’t put him so far away.. I think anyone with a memory problem need gps units on car and wrists. And he probably had trouble seeing to drive after dark.

He should have had his DL taken away, aw well as the keys to vehicles he had access to. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT! I know it's hard for adult children to accept the fact that their parents have dementia, but it's their moral responsibility to look after their parents who have dementia.

True and also absolutely a good suggestion that’s worth potentially investigating. but to counter that, he is driving in non sense circles around town for hours, I doubt he would know where to even go and called someone and was confused and lost in some bushes. It’s possible he maybe not even in the water and has gotten his truck stuck somewhere in deep woodlands if they exist somewhere or maybe even abandoned his truck somewhere and is on foot separated from it.

Yes this is what I first thought about. Also could be he ditched the car with the keys inside and walked on foot trying to search for his childhood home, or the first house he had with his wife. Someone must have stole his vehicle after he ditched it. So he might be lying somewhere.

In that case, the team maybe close to finding ralph. He could be lying nearby. Or stuck somewhere near the cellphone pings. Because if he left his car, and continue on foot. Then its very unlikely nobody can recognize a former mayor of that town.

My Uncle had dementia and Alzheimer’s. He lived in Philadelphia at the time. He would go and get on the subway and think he was going to work to a job he had in his 20s. They would find him miles and miles away lost looking for his job site. It was traumatic! I hope Ralph gets found soon. 🙏

3 of my great Aunts drowned in the Illinois river in 1941. The youngest went in the water, the older two 12 and 14 went into try to save her but were all swept away from the current. Their bodies were found down stream 3 days later. So everything you guys do, really hits home and is probably why I enjoy watching these. Famlies get closure, not the kind that they want but they get more answers/know what happened to their loved ones and I feel this pays great respect for everyone that's ever drowned, not just in their vehicles and that my aunts can rest in peace knowing there's someone out there searching for lost loved ones that met the same fate.

I feel like Ralph's description of being "in the bushes" could possibly refer to the Dairy Creek area, west and north of the Cornelius Winco. There is also a golf course there, Killarney Golf Course. It is very brushy, and accessible from Tualatin-Valley Hwy. This area may have already been searched, but worth a second look. Lots of homeless in that area when he went missing.

This message has inspired me to buy myself an automatic/manual life jacket to always have on hand when out on the water. Recently, I watched a video of one of my friends in Florida on his boat and he didn’t have a life jacket on. This is a great message that I can share to help save lives. I plan to start letting my friends and family know how important it is to have a life jacket on at all times when out on the water or near water (like swimming in a lake). It’s not just for kids, everyone needs one on. Thank you for all you do!!! 🤿😊😻

There’s a lot of dangers in open water, life jackets are basic, people should just put them on. Even canoeing growing up we wore our life jackets.

One thing that still puzzles me after all this time... If he did not have a driver's license, and had not driven over a year per you documentation. Why would his family allowed him to have gotten in the car and simply drove off? As a retired paramedic, and myself taken care of a close family member with Alzheimers, I personally would not have allowed them anywhere near the driver's seat. I truly pray that he is found and brought home to his family. AWP, Jared, Doug and crew, thank you so much for all that you do each and everyday. All of you are in my prayers daily, as well as your families. Please always be as safe as possible in all of your adventures, and always watch your six. This. There was a case some years back where a man in a red car drove off River Road just south of Salem. He had a medical event. There was no ravine, just a slight slope. If there were not so much brush, his car would have been spotted off that busy commuter road. He was found by 2 walking a path to a fishing spot 15 months after he disappeared. The brush opens up and closes right behind a car here. Brush is still thick everywhere. I think he'll be found within 30 miles of Newberg.

My personal feeling is just because he wanted to go "home" didn't mean he knew how anymore, I have always felt the car ran out of gas, he got out of the car, confused, no phone left, he shuffles when he walks, he became more lost off road, sadly he succumbed, either that or he's in some sort of shelter somewhere, that would be best scenario.

If it just ran out of gas and didn’t crash somewhere, the car would have been found by now. I do think it possible that he ended up off the road, either accidentally or he pulled off to go to the bathroom, and walked away from the car and couldn’t find his way back. It’s also entirely possible that the phone stopped pinging because it died, and he continued driving for an unspecified amount of time before running out of gas/crashing. In which case, they could potentially be no where near the right area. I’d be curious to see the line between where he was when he called his daughter vs where his cell phone last pinged. I wonder if continuing in that direction would lead to other promising areas to search.

Think off the wall. I have a friend that has recently passed away she also had that illness in the early stages of it she got lost and called me I had her call the cops to help find her she wasn't around her car we got her and took her to the hospital while the cops looked for her car about an hour and a half later they found it had us pick it up where they found it. It was still hard to locate it for us when we found it we couldn't believe where it was it was parked on this bridge that was at the end of a walking trail she had thought that the trail was the main road so think outside the box for them is not the same for us. I HOPE that you find him keep up all the great work that you guys do. Sorry that I can't donate I am on disability with a tight budget

I'm glad you are pushing ppl to wear life jackets. I went to the river with my dad once they invited more ppl than we had life jackets. They expected me to give mine up. I said hell no. I'm not a good swimmer and I'm the only parent my kids have. They were mad I didn't give it up. But oh well. Always wear a life jacket on the boat no mater the age or skill set.

Thank you for clearing all the water ways where Ralph Brown could have been. I know this has to have helped the family find some peace in knowing Ralph is not in those areas. I pray those that take over the search on land are able to locate him! From your discussion it looks like somewhere near his home may be the location to look next! Stay safe! ❤️🙏

This breaks my heart. My mother had Alzheimer's and she was in and out of confusion. I wish I could join and be a member with you all, but my finances won't allow it right now. I am grateful to you all for what you do for the missing and their families. So many have gone missing and probably will never be found. I am curious have the woods in multiple areas been thoroughly checked. I just feel Ralph is on land.

Listening to the birds, looking at the scenery. Oregon is a stunning state. I have family in Washington state. Which is very similar. Green lush lots of bird life. Just lovely. I’m in the UK I can understand why my Aunt felt near home because the land is almost the same, what you are doing is extremely important. Please stay safe.

I hope that the family has some answers soon. Having some professional insight into Alzheimer's and dementia, I've been browsing maps trying to think of possible directions someone in Ralph's condition might take, given the information AWP has provided, and I can't help but think that it's a daunting task... so many possible locations, so much area that might not have cell service that he could've strayed into, leading to the sudden loss of communication. I just pray that he's found soon. Thank you for your efforts, AWP.

I will pray Ralph Brown is found. However, I don't understand why no one took his car keys away. I was the only member of my family who wanted that for my mother. She had Alzheimer's. A few months later she totalled the car. I don't want to happen to anyone else.

How scarey, poor family. My Mom has dementia, left her nursing home and sat on a bench outside. When the 10pm shift showed up they took her back in. Because of my advocating for the residents and filing complaints with the State, they have a new system. I hope they can find him and lay him to rest. I was so worried because she could have easily walked off. 😢

I just come across your channel two days ago and I'm benging every video you have put out. This is truly a beautiful thing you are doing for the family's involved. But one thing I can't understand is the 100👎 they gotta be heartless people... I'd love to have these Men on My side if I would ever need something like this done. Please don't ever stop doing what you are doing for the family's! I know your families are proud of what your doing and going through looking for a person you don't even know. Bless you guy's and please stay safe out there! xx

My dad used to tell me he was crossing paddocks or in a car going to strange houses with a bunch of people he didnt know. The detail in his stories made them incredibly believable. A lot of the time they were where he lived as a child. None of this ever happened. My Dad was in his room in aged care. Dad couldnt have travelled far without help and certainly not driven a car for that matter. I hope you find this poor man soon AWP. ❤🇦🇺
