My favorite thing about this movie is that because it is entirely on the computer you feel like you are doing the investigating with her. There were times where I would realize something seconds before the main character did. There is also a twist that is actually really obvious because of of the urgency of the pacing of the movie you don’t notice it and when you do you almost feel like “how could I have missed that it was so obvious” it keeps you so engaged into the movie

@@kurlykayla9013 SPOILERS It’s probably the scene when the man shows up at her house towards the end of the movie. That’s the only twist I can think of tbh, because there were a lot of clues as to who he was and the intention in that scene and the prior ones

spoiler alert is the obvious twist you're talking about at the beginning where the "last family trip" video (or whatever they actually titled it) was trimmed significantly? I still think that's only obvious in retrospect, on first viewing I simply thought she was cutting it because the guy started having worse symptoms or something after the nosebleed

I think the reason why I loved this movie was because of how realistic it was. every feature that she used and every pause and camera angle was so true and believable. the hey Siri through the computer was genius and it made me shiver. amazing that this was all shown through a computer screen and phone and that they used real apps that we all use in our day to day, not some made up thing.

Honestly, it just is amazing to tell how different the feels of how Searching and Missing are as a basis. Searching is in the perspective of a parent, someone who hasn't held most of their years in the internet, showing a much more relatable feel for the older audiences, and hits on the parental compassion for wanting to keep your children safe. Missing proceeds to take it from the perspective of someone who practically GREW UP with the internet, which still felt relatable and fluid, while being able to hit similar emotional beats, on top of the riveting plot.

This movie must be an editing nightmare! It's an interesting "sub-genre," that obviously anyone who's ever used a computer can instantly relate to. I don't want to see a swarm of this type of thing, but when it's done this well it's very entertaining. A solid "B" from me, maybe even a "B+" because I admire the intricacy of the filmmaking so much.

The atz show did a video on searching with an interview with some people involved. They talk for about an hour and I can really recommend it! Searching was my favorite movie the year it came out!! I had never seen anything like it before, so naturally I was very excited for Missing and I didn't watch a single trailer. It satisfied me on pretty much every level!! I had a fantastic time with it. I thought they made it even more riveting; not just with the plot and characters but with the sound design as well. Really great stuff!!! I could only imagine what the script writing process or story-boarding is like. I mean just so impressive. This goes to show you that the equipment you have doesn't need to be the top-tier. All you need is something as small as a webcam.

There were a few questions I had about how the plot played out (spoilers): - Why did the father keep the mother alive the whole time? What was the point there? He supposedly wanted her dead, right? - Why would she open the door to her father, even if he is her father? That was a dumb move. - Maybe I just missed it, but what was Kevin's motive for participating in this plan? If the father was simply paying him, how was the father affording all this? Too nitpicky? - Maybe Kevin was doing most of the coordinating, but to create the whole plan takes some serious sophistication, yet the father at the end seemed more like a crazy person than a mastermind. But, as I said, maybe Kevin did the coordinating. - If Kevin is so brilliant at this, how did he fail to realize he sent a live photo on the plane, accidentally revealing the face of the actress? Wasn't he just pretending to be technologically challenged?
@ballstomper6756

I felt like Kevin genuinely cared about June so he left some clues to help her/the cops get justice after he fled. This is the only explanation I can think of since he also never changed his account passwords after finding out June was accessing them although he mightve avoided doing so because it would’ve made him easier to track too idk.

I saw Missing and although I liked most if it (wasn't crazy about ending)... I realize upon watching it again with a big crowd not only does it have great twists and unique perspectives of things but illustrates very well how we utilize technology to look into things we want answers for. It's actually done very well. Upon later thinking about the ending that I initially didn't like too much I realize how kinda brilliant it was in how it came together too with everything seen before. Like Searching it's definitely one to check out.

I’ve found that since 2020, movie and TV studios are using January as free creative real estate. Sure you have your Dolittle’s and The 355’s but at some point, I think the industry realized they could use the first month of the year to their advantage and take some risks while they were at it. Plus, most people go to the movies based off word of mouth and reviews now. If something is being talked about enough or enough people like it, audiences will make an effort to see it. What better way to get films that most people would assume are terrible and blow people’s expectations out of the water? I though Megan was going to be okay at best before the reviews came out and it got a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, which actually made me want to see it. I did- and I absolutely loved it. The power of cinema, man.

I love the small nod they did to Searching at the start of this movie.

The bad January release this year was "The Devil Conspiracy." That film's sheer awfulness more than makes up for how good, "M3GAN," "Plane," and "Missing," are.

Just saw it a few minutes ago and of course had to go check Chris Suckmann. 😂 SO pleasantly surprised. It was very fast. Realized quite quickly I couldn't look away for a second 'cause the I'd miss something. I highly recommend it!

I agree it hooked me in quickly, really movie mystery, how they keep making these types of found footage films because the directors for this are killing it!

Just watched the movie last night. It was fire. All the scenes were Real as in exactly our way of using a computer. That's why it feels personal. And i also love the fact that the movie doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence by not feeding us obvious explanations. This movie was like "If you goy it , good! and if you didn't, ehh I don't care" . The only problem I had was the fact that this movie trynna make a Gen Z teenage girl so familiar with tech. I'm yet to find any such girls. They don't exist. So , I'm assuming the teen was an A student about to go to an ivy league college. Those computer skills are straight up Hacker level . The Social engineering stuff they do for the passwords and such

i'm sure the clips are from the trailer (which i had not seen) but i think a couple of clips shouldn't have been used in a spoiler-free review video. but then again none of the clips actually spoil the final act so does it matter? yes.

I really liked this movie. Doesn’t overtake the first one, but that’s the only negative I have about this movie. Loved the performances, and the twists/turns, was engaging, and I loved the way the movie was told. 9/10

Searching is one of my favorite films I've seen it like 5 times. I'm waiting a week to go see Missing with friends at my local Regal before it sadly closes next month.

I was really impressed with how up to date the macOS version they use. It was the latest version and included the small new details

What about the stuff in Searching about an alien invasion or something I remember pointing to a bigger story? Or am I thinking of another movie.

Oh, the trailer definitely doesn't do this movie justice. I thought they'd spoiled a lot of the twists, but they kept pulling more and more beyond what they showed
