Sometimes the players are the ones to push the big red button, and sometimes it’s the DM. And Matt’s decision to have Ira set the timer for one minute without warning was the best button push I’ve ever seen him do. My heart was RACING.

He is a Fey through and through: the more chaotic action the more difficult it is for him to stop himself from doing it. They gave chaos gremlin a new idea and paid the price for doing so 😂

I watched through C2 first, then circled back and experienced the entirety of C1, then all the one shots and extras (including things like the battle royales and honey heists), then came to C3. And now... here... I am up to date!

@@kawikacortes347 the groups are split into two things. Yes they are talking, but it isn't their turn and they are probably intentionally not listening so they don't meta even if by accident. At one put when it was Top Groups turn, you see everyone in bottom group on their phones. There is nothing at all wrong with what they are doing. They listen and don't talk much when it is their group's turn. If there is no interference with the actual session, then why care if they talk too much? It isn't like you are hearing their entire conversation.

Seriously splitting the party made this episode so tense in the way that @matthewmercer expertly shifts between the two groups at key moments. They say don’t split the party but honestly glad they did because this was peak entertainment.

Conceptually I don't like the idea that splitting the party is never an option. I feel like depending on the campaign and the party's goals splitting up can be the best decision.

Spliting the party is bad for a few main reasons: 1) the DM hasn't balanced the separate encounters for multiple people, and doesn't have time do to so 2) the split groups might not have the resouces to properly function in combat and 3) smaller groups means a different action economy in combat encounters, so mistakes are a lot more punishing. Time and preparation generally fix these issues, as well as a not insignificant serving of experience for both sides

⁠@@Sp4rt4nSl4yayeah, it comes from being something that *completely* screws a DM, if it’s a spur of the moment thing decided at the table. Notice in this instance the session was Set Up for a split party, with the split decided upon & finalized at the end of the prior session. Giving Matt time to prepare for a split party meant it wasn’t actually any sort of detriment to a game. Spring that on a DM mid-session tho, you’re asking for a terrible time all around. The amount of improvisation it would require would be even too much for Matt, I’d imagine. At minimum he’d immediately go to break to plan

Oh my god, Fearne's character growth this campaign has been unbelievable. It came up *repeatedly* in the most recent Four Sided Dive. Nowadays, Fearne has the biggest, most helplessly open heart of anyone in Bells Hells, and she's traded her laissez-faire approach to other souls for this unbounded love and concern. There is a part of me that worries that it might be getting too intense, like something that needs therapy (born of trauma and damaging to a degree) rather than a positive trait, but... yeah. Our tenderheart faun.

Daggerheart will likely becoming the main system in C4. C3 probably doesn't have much longer left. We are entering into Year 3 with generally how long one of their campaigns last. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't finish up near the end of summer or by the end of the year.

"Did she know?" How about *DID YOU KNOW?* - as in...didn't you know what you were doing all along? For years? Why were you warning your daughter away, why does she feel guilty? Why should Imogen feel guilt over what she's being forced to do, now, because...of her mother, just as much as it is the fault of Ludinus? It's not Imogen's fault this is happening - her mother could have gone double agent, or changed her mind at any point over the years, and none of this would have happened. Why would she even be mad at a 'daughter' she never knew, and has only spoken to like 5 times now, making them effectively strangers? It's not like it's even personal, or a betrayal, because...you don't know each other, and have no relationship to betray. Imogen's obsession with a stranger who doesn't care about her at all has been weird to me this whole time, and it's just so shitty of her 'mother' to suddenly be 'betrayed' when it upsets HER plans. She's perfectly willing to let HER allies kill Imogen or HER allies. But when it affects mommy dearest, THEN it's an issue? Someone get this assassination over with. ZZzzzz

For a lot of people blood family is very important. There might be million reasons to try to reconcile with your mother. One of them might be to feel better. Especially because Liliana was "present" by being in Imogen dreams ironically making her want to find and help her mother. It's just classic case of finding lost parent but turns out they are shitty🙃

I don't think it's so far fetched that Imogen yearns to have her mother back in her life and still clings onto a tiny bit of hope of being able to turn her to the good side. I agree with the rest of your points tho. Lilliana should not be surprised or angry that it ended up like this.

POSSIBLE MAJOR SPOILERS!! With Liliana gathering Ruidisborn children, and her scream of rage after the attack, I have to wonder... ...were any of them *hers* ? Is there a *reason* she won't leave Ludinus - a bitterly ironic one, considering she was just fine leaving Imogen with her father? She claims to have stopped him from doing something horrible because he listens to her - what was it, and why her? If Fearne's birth was orchestrated, that might have given Ludinus some horrible ideas...

@@OneNerdyAce Liliana is indeed incredibly powerful but lets not forget Ludinus is also almost certainly a lvl 20 wizard. Taking him on 1 on 1 would be a real dicey move for any other lone individual regardless of their own power level even if they could get the jump on him (which in itself seems very, very unlikely). That having been said, he's also smart enough and paranoid enough to never trust entirely in his own raw power, so having some other form of leverage over every other person who works for him would also be very believeable.

@@NinjaDeathSlap He is AT LEAST a lv. 20 wizard. Not even Allura has been shown as a level 20 wizard and the official website only lists her as Lv. 17. Ludinus is almost certainly so much more powerful than a normal lv 20 wizard. That ultra broken quintessence array that the Bells Hells have? he made that and almost certainly has one of his own that hes been using to juice himself up for centuries. I would wager that he has AT LEAST 30 intelligence and his lowest stat is probably 20. i would not be surprised if he has multiple ninth level spell slots.

He is for sure stronger than a "blank" lvl20 wizard, but like a lvl20 wizard PC he also would have powerful items, bonuses from experience that have altered him (aka feats or special abilities) etc. And FOR SURE he has some powerful artifact he has made/found/corrupt. BUT he is NOT a demigod or a god. He is NOT Vecna... for now.

I am in on this theory too. I think Imogen also suspects because she said "I believe she loves me. She just loves Ludinus more." Whether Lilliana loves Ludinus, it would track that he is using her to reproduce, and holding that power over her. Plus the whole "children like you who are relying on me" comment.
