• WHAT? My real REAL EDC... -~-
You guys, my fellow Moorlanders, asked for it.... and I brought it. This was genuinely one of my hardest piece of content to create. I wanted to make something that didn't bad mouth one pack over the other, which, hopefully you'll get that I didn't. There is a pack which I prefer, however that's not because one is bad: simple that I prefer one for my use

Thx for the comparison, but maybe next time write a script or at least notes beforehand... I was hoping for info like the number of mole straps on the sides and fronts of the two packs, the dimensions of the modular pack, weight comparison, how well they carry with high loads...

I have tried to write a script before however my reading skills aren't the best. My learning difficulties make me sound very robotic and I struggle with notes. I've learned new techniques since making this content though which I think make things go better. It's definitely something I'm trying to get better at and it was definitely lacking in these earlier piece of content I made back then. I definitely appreciate the feedback. I hope you're well and having a good week 🤙

Hey Moorlander ... I thoroughly enjoyed this comparison of backpacks. I also appreciate the fact that you, (on average) are just being yourself while doing the narrative. Understand this ... there are people that are not English ... that watch your videos and even some I suppose that don't even understand what a "moorlander" is. Take it easy ... be yourself and always remember this as a principle; something beautiful has to be functional (i.e. does what it's intended to do) and has to look good ... in a nutshell ... the question that has always to be asked is this, "Can you live with it day to day?" 3D design is predicated upon this principle. Could you live with a teapot that drips tea all over the place every time you serve someone? Unfortunately ... even the vaunted Vanquest, Maxpedition, and 5.11 packs fall short in many ways. It's not rocket science. I'm looking at the Tasmanian Tiger TT modular 30l ... because it ahs the one thing tjhat NO other pack in it's category has ... a well thought out and comfortable support system. Everything else is just BS because we all prefer comfort over discomfort and the dumbing down of comfort standards. Comfort is number ONE ... a backpack begins with the support system - regardless of where and how the back pack is used. Number TWO ... every pack should be considered an EDC pack - regardless of size and IFAK (trauma and basic) should be given priority. THREE - organizational pocket are a must - and many of them; I could go on and on. Here's the bottom line .... ... There isn't a backpack that exists, (yet) that cover the most basic needs of individuals in one sack. So Mr Moorlander ... instead of reviewing everyone else's piss poor designs ... get with it and design yer own. Go for it and be yerself!!!!

Hi there. Love this comment and I can see you've put a lot of thought into this. You're spot on with the suspension system. So many packs are designed as a pack and the straps seem like an added extra or last minute thought. I recently tried out the Constrictor II from Crib Gogh. This was a pack where they started with the back panel and straps first... With some serious science backed up my the Royal College of Physicians. I'd love to sit and think through a backpack as a 'from the ground up' pack. There's probably a lot of packs I'd take inspiration from quite a few packs. This does sound like a great idea though. Maybe I'll put some more thought into this. On the TT side, I'm a huge fan of theirs... Even before I became an ambassador for them here in the UK. I think in a way they're a 'if you know, you know' brand. There's plenty of brands out there that talk the talk, whereas TT really use their engineering skills to think of packs with their basics, and foundations properly. Amazing comment. Have an awesome day. All my best

I couldn't decide either what pack i should buy. I've thought about it, watched the video again and one more time. Watched other reviews. Tasmanian Tiger, yes. I love the modular 30 design but it's too small and the mission pack is bigger with 37 liters. But i don't really like this divided main compartment design for edc. For army use i can see that could be practical. I did some searching in the Tasmanian Tiger range. It's insane how much gear and options they offer. You can turn a standard backpack into a camera bag or a medical bag, add pouches with velcro inside, molle system on the outside. Then i found out there's a TT modular 45+. The bigger brother of the 30 modular. Take the top compartment off or the front pouch to make it smaller. Pretty sure you can stretch it to 50 maybe 55 liters or shrink it down to 30. That pack is just so versatile but the price is high. I got mine for 269 euro's and it was delivered today. I'm so amazed with the quality. The ykk zipper on the main compartment is bulkier then any zipper i've seen on any pack. Berghaus, Millet, North face etc. The feel of my TT pack is very high quality, smart, well engineered. High price but good value for your money.

Hi Mart. I've never really looked at anything larger than 40ltrs as they're hard to EDC. I might ask TT UK about a review unit to test out. Great detailed reply buddy. Have a great week

@@MoorlanderEDC You should check out the TT modular 45+ if you get the chance. The compression straps on the modular 30 are paracord, on the modular 45+ the compression straps are the same as on the mission. No bottom compartment with a rain cover like on the mission. The top compartment has an organizer and is very easy to take off. Front pouch is flat, not waterproof, intended to stuff in like a tactical helmet or a jacket. Takes just few minutes to take off with the molle straps. Main compartment is like the modular 30, 3 velcro pouches and 2 flat velcro strips with 2 velcro straps. Think they are called "gunstraps". I've been creative with them. They also work perfectly to hold a Canon eos 2000D dslr with a 300mm lens. I can stick my camera in the top corner of the back, on the other side on the side i have a small first aid kit and got a lot of space left for a fleece or jacket and go to the supermarket for some shopping on the way back. This pack can do it. Laser cut molle outside around. Carrying system adjustable to your length. Don't think the modular 30 has that. Inside velcro laser cut molle. Top quality feel. Go check it out bro.

I love you're doing a comparison of 2 packs. I have a good question. I've got a northface vault what suppose to have 27 liter storage space. It's not anywhere near 27 liters. Nice quality pack and i like this pack a lot and had it for 4 years. Also cordura 700, zippers are good quality etc. I've used it for going to work, work clothes and a fleece and on the way back pick up some groceries. Also taken it for shopping at the supermarket completely empty. I can't for example put 16 liters in the main compartment. Lets say 16 square milk cartons of 1 liter. That should fit easily in a 27 liter pack right. It doesn't, maybe i could put my foot in and stamp on it. The 27 liter claim is just bs in my opinion. So i'm looking for a bigger backpack that's versatile and tough. Good for day trip hiking or going to work and doing shopping on the way back to home. Do you think this 30 liter modular is actually gonna fit 30 liters? Do you think the 37 liter mission pack is gonna fit 37 liters? Are these claims actually true? I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
@MoorlanderEDC
@MoorlanderEDC 3 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean with this. I've always wondered how some measure the litre capacity. I have a smaller shoulder bag that claims its 3ltr... 3ltrs my ARSE 🤣 I'd say of all the companies I've tested, TT feel closer to the capacity they claim. Both the Mission and the 5.11 Rush 24 are 37ltr packs. If you're were handed both packs not knowing anything about them and were asked to pick out the 37ltr pack, I'd guess 9/10 people would say the Mission. The Mission feels closer to its 'on peper' capacity than the Modular, but I think this is to do with the irregular shape and rounded corners/front. The Mission is also way easier to pack for the same reasons. That may have just been a huge brain dump there 👍
@Mart687
@Mart687 3 жыл бұрын
@@MoorlanderEDC They're probably measuring the capacity with a computer model while designing it. A sleeping bag or a sweater you can stuff in and it ll go into each corner. Of course putting round bottles of water in it, space is lost between them in the gaps. You can't use 100% of a packs capacity right unless it's all clothing and soft stuff. There's always space lost and it's understandable but how accurate are these volume numbers of the companies as in practical usable space in edc. My preference is going to the modular 30. Going on a holiday, the bags inside are smart with velcro, for a dayhike take them out, leave em in your tent of house and you ll have 1 big compartment and on the way back get your groceries from the shop. The mission pack has 2 main compartments, no matter how handy that can be for a army situation, is that a smart choice for edc? If the most forward compartment is completely empty, can you get full capacity of both compartments in the back compartment for lets say shopping in a supermarket? Does it like fold away? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. And thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. 👍
@MoorlanderEDC
@MoorlanderEDC 3 жыл бұрын
Totally with the volume worked on on a drawing board somewhere, however your previous comment on filling one with square milk cartons has some legs. I might think about that more With regard to the Mission folding in, that's exactly that I do. I'll take some photos and add them to the community page here. The front section isn't designed to, however you can fold the sides in so that they sit perfectly inside the rain hood of the larger main compartment - although saying that, TT are very smart so maybe it is designed that way. The compression straps help to keep it there and it reduces the size of the park a lot. It's constant in the boot of my car so it's there if needed - although it's not like a proper 'prepper's' get home bag I've just added it now... I really need to use the community tab more

@@MoorlanderEDC I couldn't decide which one i wanted. Slept over it a couple of nights and checked out the tasmanian tiger products for other options. There's a bigger version of the modular 30. The tt modular 45 plus. Same modular design but bigger and more options also to downsize the pack. You can take the top compartment off and a compartment on the front. The compression straps are more like the mission and not bungee cord. But inside is the same as the modular 30 with the velcro bags that come with it. The modular 30 and mission are around 200 euro's. The modular 45 plus is around 300. Found a reliable german website and with this pack's products page there's a button on this product page to talk about the best price. I asked if they could do 250. 3 hours later i got an offer of a 10% discount so the pack was 269. Best they could do and i think that's fair. So i just ordered a TT modular 45 plus in color olive. Maybe you should check out the tt modular 45 plus if you can and review that. It's like a beefed up version/ big brother of the modular 30. I love how you can take of parts of the pack to make it smaller for edc. Versatile and modular. 269 euro for a backpack is a lot but i think of it as an investment. I'm gonna take care of it and enjoy that for the rest of my life.

What do you think would be better for backpacking? My first though is the modular pack because of the bigger 1 Pack for sleeping bag etc., am i right?
@MoorlanderEDC
@MoorlanderEDC 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rofland, I think it depends on how you like to manage your gear. The Modular has just the single compartment, whereas the Mission has greater scope to divide your gear. The Modular is definitely slimmer and easier to manage. I hope this helps

I'd say they're both very similar as the back panel and suspension system are the same... Although, I'd probably say the Mission is slightly better. You can carry more due to its larger size, and as its slightly wider, I found the hip belt distributed the wait on my waist better. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👍
