The Bed Frame build is underway. this will be a mission style bed made from Whiteoak with all Hand tools. today we will be working on the Mortise and Tenon Joinery. of all the hardwood I could have worked with this is curly white oak which is one of the hardest woods I have had to work with. we will be showing two different ways to make Mortise and Tenon joinery even with this difficult wood. I will be having woodworking plans available when the build is done so you can follow along with your own Hand made mission style bed frame.

Seeing the way you work is the perfect reason why hand tools are making a comeback, an absolute pleasure. By the way, The ring trick is pure genius!

I love it. From one fellow follicle challenged individual i must say you have a great shape for a bald head. That being said, I feel like tomorrow when i turn on my jointer I’m going to be thinking about this video. And i will be having a sensation that i can compare to the feeling I would have while eating a cheeseburger and fries in my car while stopped at a red light next to a homeless man begging for food. You make it look... not effortless by any means. But classic. True to your core. And an absolute joy to watch. Thank you for this. And I really enjoyed the music, although I missed the intro. -Ben

I realy love the idea with those old tools and stuff, lot off inspiration! (I always pick up those old tools when i run across them for a reasonable price, they are almost alyays totaly worth fixing even if the are in a visually realy bad condition, they will still come out realy nice with a bit of elbow grease.)

I didn`t intend to utilize this woodworking website, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* but rather curious about it. I was truly impressed after trying it. I was looking to find out more about the art of woodworking, and was not dissatisfied. I found several topics such as wood types and designing your workshop.

Is there a special trick to identifying the type of wood or do you rely on the timber shop's sales for that?
@dlimla
@dlimla 5 жыл бұрын
Really boils down to how much you work with it. Every wood has a different characteristic and the more you work with it, the look, feel, and even the smell of it becomes familiar. Really experienced woodworkers can identify multiple types quickly by only those three senses, because they've spent so much time with it. Relying on shops sales is a good place to start but after awhile, the more you work with it, you'll be able to tell just by touch or looking at it. You won't even realize it too it just happens naturally. :D

I usually I purchase whatever my local Sawyer's have on hand. Look on CL for guys with a small sawmill and get to know them. I chose white oak for this one to match the dresser. For the dresser I chose white oak because I got a great deal on CL.
