Hello darlings! Today I give you a tour of my art room and reveal paintings I’ve been working on (some completed, others a work in progress). I usually make Food & Travel videos on this channel, but today I share with you another big part of my life…. ART ❤️ Some of you already got glimpses of it on Instagram @missminaoh I’m doing the official introduction on KZfaq today!
A little background: Art has been a huge presence since I was a kid. Always had arts & crafts projects at home throughout grade school. Went to art college, but eventually went digital with KZfaq. In recent years I prioritized making travel videos and put art to the side (art as in creating physical objects like painting on canvas). I occasionally did a sketch here and there, but didn’t keep a daily practice. When traveling extensively, it’s challenging to bring all the art supplies. I’m all about packing light as possible. Also, the heartbreak of supplies and work getting lost/damaged/stolen while traveling!
So I channeled all my energy and resources into making travel videos. And even before making travel content, I was moving around quite a bit between countries. But due to covid and changing travel restrictions, I stopped traveling abroad and finally was able to make time & space to practice art on a regular basis again.
My return to art during the pandemic was initially an attempt to overcome some difficult emotions related to past trauma that kept resurfacing. It’s my first time mentioning this because it’s been a difficult year for many of us and I wanted to keep my videos upbeat. I won’t get too detailed about it yet, but just giving some background as to how art became a bigger part of my life again. Art is an outlet and it helped me express feelings that I couldn’t get out through journaling and other mediums. The dark colors made me feel understood while the brighter and lighter colors helped lift my spirits.
Mommy Oh and I paused on international travel, so now I’m traveling through colors, shapes and textures. Hope you enjoy this video, even though it’s a little different than my usual content :)

Your art is super good. Many people think that It's all about perfection and lines and real life stuff but it's more about drawing what one feels it's suppose be calming, free, wild and fun. Just play around and do whatever the hell you want to. That's what I think and I really like your art it's perfect and you drew with your heart✨

I love your art, Mina! 2020 and 2021 dredged up a lot of old trauma and created new trauma for me, too. Having a creative outlet is wonderful! Your paintings with the small brush strokes where you were talking about seeing shapes and figures in clouds look like images for color blindness tests. Anyone else get that feeling?

I was very ill and fighting for my life when the quarantine kicked in, not socializing probably saved my life, as the chemotherapy made my immune system very fragile. I remained shockingly calm throughout all of it, despite one or two bouts of extreme sadness. I am 6 months into remission, and looking at various forms of art, listening music, and looking at food videos, especially yours, because you are local, kept me happy!

This video was just a reminder to start paining again. A mix of my toxic job and quarantine not only made me more anxious but physically sick. I had severe back pain, nausea and just bodily pain for most of the year leading into this year. I’m sure I was also experiencing burnout and that’s why I was having mental breakdowns. Things got better once I got fired from my job. It was a relief to not have to work there anymore. I stopped feeling so bad all the time. Now I do more freelance design work and plan to start a business. I mainly do digital graphic design work and sketching but want to do more physical artwork that gets my hands dirty. I miss the process of painting and getting a final product. Thank you for this video and sharing your work. If anything this time of pain caused reflection to lead to a new path we’d have never taken the time to find.

Hi Mina. As an artist I loved ur use of color, contrast and composition + fun. A little tip, if you paint at night get yourself some daylight light bulbs 5000 k. They help you perceive colors better since they're more like natural light. If you use the reading bulbs, they cast a slight yellow tinge on your color perception.

Really like the background music you have on this video Miss Mina... Relaxing... Art is an excellent medium for many things and experiencing it in different ways as you're finding out is very rewarding... There is Art in everything if you really look for it as you've alluded too... It's even in your travel & food videos...! You are spot on with your videos Miss Mina! Food is one of our comfort outlets and your food videos always makes me want to sample what you show us. You make it look that good…!!! In fact, one day after watching one of your food videos, I had to order some Chicken Fried Rice and Egg Rolls... Again - You make it look SOOO good!!! You're a smart person and I'm sure as time goes on you will find yourself not only sharing your food and art videos but many other Ideas will come to mind that you will share with us... I can see your future now as you experience and travel the world, even if it's in your own home as you just showed us in this excellent video...! Keep up the great work that many of us are enjoying and giving us an outlet to escape from these emotional times...! Thank You...! P.S. Are you thinking about any Ideas for shirts for the guys who like your channel? Just a thought...

I think it's very important for human beings to be creative. It's an innate desire within most of us. Whether it be art or something else. I can see some pointilism and impressionism in some of your work along with some minimalist influence. Whatever you like to create or explore, you should keep doing that. Rock on Miss Mina. Rock on.

Also, you mentioned your difficult feelings coming up because of the pandemic so I wanted to share a poem I wrote right around the beginning of it. Like Clay Some days I think that it's a curse To be able to write in a verse No one appreciates it anyway A hobby that is so isolated Old fashioned and outdated Causes pain and has no pay But foolishly I dream of wealth Living easy and mental health Under a palm tree's gentle sway Only to find my dreary world Caught in a viral awful swirl A plague for this modern day So now the separation that I feel Inside has fruited into what is real And for a moment wants to stay But I know moments will not last And hope is here if we hold it fast The future is ours to form like clay And when it comes hard and true Calcified into something new We will finally taste its full array

So nice and relaxing. :) I love artsy fartsy stuff lol. An idea for those masks: Once you have then sanitized, you could make paper dye with water, white vinegar, and food coloring and dye them. Once they're dry, you could fold them into flowers, leaves, etc and do all sorts of things with them. A little life and growing out of a horrible year(s).

Art is a great way to express your feelings and to release pent up stresses. Art is supposed to be messy; a chaotic organization. It looks messy but the person involved knows where everything is.
